These are some of the plants I used under the taller plants.Since it it very shady, the colored plants gives color where I can not grow flowers because of the shade.

Beautiful. You are so lucky- those coleus would turn to mush in the ground where I live unless I put them in the ground in June.

Tig, Yes they are annuals, but I get them started in the greenhouse in gallon pots to get a good start on spring.

I love the look. I used them for the first time this year as an underplanting. My red maple just looked like it needed them.

Spectacular use of color and texture Barb. You must get much enjoyment out of your display .... I can just imagine sitting there with a tall glass of ice tea, trying to stay cool in the shade.

I was frustrated for years trying to grow flowers under my deep shaded pecans in the back yard. I seem to be a slow learner. Finally said to #### and changed everything except a few favorite plants. Grow aroids, brugmansias, gingers, bananas, hostas, cannas is brighter areas, and a few annuals and perennials. I wish I lived in zone 10!!!!! It is so strange in the winter. Most of my yard is flat and ugly until spring. It always amazes me that plants can grow 5-10' tall in one season.

Very nice Barb.
