Hello folks,
Just checking in to see how everyone's weekend went. Everyone sounds busy.
KathyJo, I really feel for you, not being able to get out into the garden to do whatever it needs. That would drive me absolutely bonkers!! I have been eating lettuce from the garden for a while now but the radishes are getting kind of woody and HOT!!
Our weekend went really fast. The town that we live by has an annual 'Czech Days' every year. We celebrate the Czech heritage with parades, queen candidates running for Czech Days queen, a carnival, dancing, lots to eat and lots of beer. Some of the weird relatives came for the weekend as we had a family reunion on Sunday. We cooked 40 lbs. of pork loins on Sunday morning and it was scrumptious. Everybody had too much to eat. Even the weird, weird relatives came on Sunday. (Can we say multiple psych meds?)LOL
My feet are battered and bruised from all the walking I did. Not a good way to break in new shoes.
I had to water the garden this morning as I neglected it for the past few days. The peas are starting to dry up already.
Mary, thanks for the rhubarb recipe. I meant to thank you sooner, but my days just fly by and I don't get on the computer much in the summer. I am going to try it as soon as I get my ton of laundry done from this weekend. I am going to get a rhubarb wine recipe from Uncle George also to try. My mother was the wine maker, so I might not have a clue as to how to make it. This stuff has a definate kick to it. I made home brew once, just to try and it didn't turn out too bad.
Well, gotta get back to that laundry. It's going to take me all day. I set out some live traps to see if I could catch the raccoons that I think are getting my duck eggs, but I haven't gotten the guts to go check them, as there is a distinct aroma of skunk coming from the direction of one of the traps. I baited it with marshmallows. I have the laundry hanging outside, so I want to get that dry before I go anywhere near the live traps. Maybe I should call DH and tell him to pick up a 55 gallon barrel of tomato juice on his way home. We might need it. LOL
Take care everyone.
Ruth
