My 7-8 ft brug has wilted some the last couple of days, but recovers overnight. However, this morning it still had a couple of leaves that looked wilted. It is in the ground, has very large roots. It rained a short hard shower Wednesday or Thursday, so I had not thought it needed watering. Do you think it needs more water, or is it just that horrible heat wilt that water won't fix? Don't want to overwater.
To water, or not to water.
Gingerlilly,
I don't think you can over water Brugs in FL....I know you can't here in South MS....unless they are sitting in standing water.
Thanks, Glory. I did water it and then we got some rain too. Now I wonder if it's something else. Most of the leaves perked back up, but two or three stayed wilted looking. Reckon it's something else? Or just don't worry about it?
Have you checked for aphids etc?
Gingerlily, i wouldn't worry. if you do have aphids, you can just spray the plant down good with a hose. i have a couple that still wilt, i think my problem is related to shallow roots. i can't remember if i put watersorb in the holes, if i did i didn't put enough. it could be that the leaves were wilted long enough they are going to die. what kind is it, and is it blooming?
Actually, I don't know the name. I bought it from a master gardener's plant sale in Pensacola fall 2000. They just called it angel trumpet and I didn't know enough about them to ask for a more specific name. It has one open bloom and has a number of bloom pods. It is a dark golden color. You are probably right about the leaves. Several turned yellowish and I went ahead and took them off. This happened just on one trunk. It has multiple trunks this year. Have not seen any aphids. Shallow roots may be the problem here too. They grew out of the pot into the ground. I have intended to build a container around it and just haven't yet. Will get to that. Thanks
