Happy Sunday, everyone. Today is Father's Day and we are having my mom and step-dad over for a cookout. Howie bought dad a swordfish filet and found some inexpensive steaks for the rest of us, along with more tasty asparagus.
I am thankful for my Heavenly Father, who the Bible says is a "father to the fatherless and a defender of widows" (Psalm 68:5). And I am thankful that my step-dad is a good man. Father's day used to be a very painful day for me because of my natural father's behavior and the related problem I had with viewing God as a loving father. Having a step-dad who is so loving and so good to my mom has helped me to see God in a different light, and that's good!
Here's today's http://davesgarden.com/journal/si/7444.html to the daily devotional for dieters. I like the anchor analogy!
