my brug

This one is a comeback from last year. It is doing much better than the ones that I brought inside.

Hi
Did you leave it outside in the pot with no overhead protection? I am trying to figure out how to overwinter all my new baby brugs. I was never worried if thtey had a good root system in the ground, but in pots they are more susceptible to frost I would think.

pebble, you need to plant that in the ground and fertilize a bunch. kell, zone 10 you should have no fear. i had a bunch come back in pots, most of them. think the ones i lost got too wet while coming back. had some little ones come back in pots. where i am going to 32 or a little under for a short while doesn't seem to bother them much.

Arlene, regarding the brugs that I have in the ground, when I fertilize, the fertilizer goes all over the place, whereas when they are in a pot, it stays right there with the brugs. the ones I have in the ground, are all stunted, and it seems easier prey for insects and slugs. I am waiting for it to get a little bigger beofre I put it in the ground.
Kell, as Arlene says, you should have no trouble with your brugs in the ground overwintering. Mine were just left in their pots, I had one that I brought into the garage, but it is no different than the ones that I had left outside. Even the one in the ground are coming back nicely, although the slugs love them, and the leaves are very riddled with holes.

I had one come back in a pot! it's doing as good or maybe a bit better than the ones from the ground.
