Double White Pod

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

here is the pod on the double white I have, I think Monika said it's Flora Plena. It's calyx falls off shortly after the corolla. These were crossed with EP.

Cala, After the flower started to go by how long did it take for the corolla to fall off?

when the flower turned a brownish color, it just fell off. Some fall fast, CG will hang on for days sometimes.

I don't know if my pollen took or not. It was so thick up inside and hard to find the stigma. The anthers were dark brown. Hope all the flowers on this one aren't so hard to pollinate.

Save me double white seeds if have enough.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

oh Cala, this could be the cross!!! I will help grow them if you have more seeds than you have room.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

i pollinated one double white, but the whole flower fell off the next day. i guess it's the humidity reeking havoc on those flowers, they just aren't lasting at all right now, neither is shredded white.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

does that happen all summer?

Cala, flore plena means double. The many doubles I have, are either B. x candida flore plena, because it was the classic cross aurea x versicolor or like Fandango or Sommerkönigin, both are B. hybrids flore plena. Both have B. suaveolens in their ancestry, therefore are no candidas.
In the english language, there are so many words out of the latin language, thats why I used the latin flore plena for better understanding.
In the german language, we use the word -gefüllt = filled
for double flowers.

Monika, it's the double with the bloom shoved up inside it.
I pollinate most of my flowers before they are really open, just when the stigma is sticking out of the anthers. Arlene, I've noticed when it's hot and humid here, the blooms turn brown faster.
Jen, I've got your snail vine. I'll get it out, wasn't sure if you still wanted it.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

oh, maybe that's the double white I got from him!! hasn't Y'ed yet though, but growing like crazy.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Tig, do you remember last fall, i got cuttings from him and sent to different people for them to spread around, this is the batch they came from. my stuffed double came from him too, but a skirt hasn't dropped on the yet (course i had it marked pink, duh)!

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

arlene, this could be that one. I'm just not sure if I got it from him or you. I did get so many from you. will post a picture the minute it blooms.

Cala, I agree with tiG, that this could be the one lol It is first time, that I see candida seedpods form and I kind of like their pubescence lol The flower I pollinated with pollen from Hofwil is also turning brown and for the first time in my life I can say, that I can`t wait for the flower to fall of rotflol I know I am not supposed to say that, because the flowers are so beautiful and fragrant, but there are nothing like knowing, that a new seedpod has come true and have started to grow lol
