They appear suddenly

and strike fear in a new brug grower's heart. Those little green wormy-things that munch the chlorophyll and make holes in brug leaves. I'm not quite new, but when I saw them today I felt the same as the first time I saw them. I spent the afternoon on my hands and knees peering under every leaf mashing them with my bare hands.
Just when I stopped worrying about all the possible greenhouse bugs - the next wave rolls in. It's a battle - everything likes these plants.

It's Japanese Beetles and spider mites here.

As far as I know we don't have problems with Japanese beetles - yet. TG.

Have something here munching holes in a lot of things. Can't find the critter. The flea beetles are putting lots of pin holes in nearly everything. I thought they would be gone with the rain, but they are hanging in there. Eating is good here I guess. I think with our warm winter we will have lots more bugs and worms than usual.

me too kell, but mine are busy eating my amaranthus, so those don't get on the brugs. yet. I've got some small brownish black cats that I keep finding. so far not too many, but I'm tired of turning over leaves too.

I found a newly hatched sphinx moth in the Jungle House this morning. It was green and cream, looked like camouflage(sp?) pattern.

The ones my brother planted in the ground are being severely attacked by something but I can see of find anything on them. Whatever it is they didn't touch the suaveolens. The ones in pots on the porch are doing great though...still battling the gat darn fungus gnats inside...TIME TO BRING OUT THE HEAVY ARTILLERY!!!
