Okay, I admit it. Howie and I are counted among those American dog owners who allow their pooches to sleep with them. And from what I read, we're in the majority!
Both our dogs sleep with us, Sarah usually hangs out by our heads until she's tired, then goes "moley" under the covers once she's ready to sleep. This http://davesgarden.com/showthread/29795.html shows her moley.
Unless it's really cold in our room, Emma usually sacks out between Howie and me, on top of the covers. My husband may snore, but he's no blanket hog; Emma sure makes it difficult to get the extra sheet and blanket pulled my way, though! When she stretches, I usually get a good little backrub. That's if I'm lucky and facing away from her paws. Otherwise, I may find a stray foot in my face.
We had our bed with its head beneath our back bedroom window, but we had to rearrange; every morning, Sarah would plant herself between our heads, sitting there and vibrating in her excitement. Squirrels at the birdfeeder. We dubbed her vibro-dog and rearranged the room so she has to go to the foot of the bed to do her rodent-watching. Who needs magic fingers when you have a dog like that?
I am just glad we have a king-size bed.
