Kitchen ventilation

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

Tonight DH and I were discussing this. He asked if I wanted a hood fan above the stove or what? I don't know. I've read that some people put in a kitchen ventilation system much like what we put in bathrooms.

So, I'd like to hear from those of you who have either the ventilation over the stove or the bathroom type ventilation in the kitchen to rid the house of cooking smells. Which did you do and are you happy with it?

Our house is going to be pretty well sealed up, so if we cook a hamburger on Monday, I don't want to be still smelling it on Wed.

I can't begin to thank you all for your help and input here. I've learned so much that has saved us from making mistakes that will haunt us forever.
