How many bushels can I send you. Darned stuff is taking over the pond!! It is pretty though, and the fish love to hide in it.

Hi, I have found it hardy to zone 4 among my friends. Don't know if it will go colder. Has taken over a pond completely here in zone 6.

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

Cala, send some my way. My mom can't find it anywhere. I've searched every store that sells pond plants with no luck :(

Well, we've had it in our zone 5 pond for a year now, and it overwintered just fine. I originally had it potted in the bottom, but it came out and was just in the water loose. I had a fountain in the pond for a while this winter, but the motor burned out on the pump and the pond froze over for the remainder of the winter. The parrot's feather's alive and kicking, doing well. Yippee!

Mine was alive this spring too.I dropped it to the bottom and kinda forgot about it(2 foot deep),the little pond it was in froze solid and it still made it.

Thanks for the info.....I think it will live here...under two feet or more of snow...thanks for the offer tig.. Calla, is sending me some...to make room for some more to grow for her....heheh....Thanks again everyone.....Diana

Will they live in a water garden, that's not a pond? I have a small water garden on my deck. It's about 3 foot round and 18 inches deep. Pretty small, so I don't know if they will be okay or not. I had some plants in there last year and it looked great, but I haven't done anything with it yet this year. If they will do okay here, I'll go look for some. What else would work in there? Last year I had some water lilies, and something called duck weed that I got at a nursery we passed through. This thread reminded me that I still need to get my water garden going. DH did enjoy the water garden last year, because it changed almost daily and he looked at it every evening when he got home. Spring has been so late that I almost forgot about it.

yes Joan, and I'll send some in your box!!!

Thanks tiG! You are so sweet! I'll get my water garden cleaned up and ready. That and a trip to town to find some more things for it are on the agenda for one evening soon.

and I heard that just burying it pot and all in the ground for the winter will help keep it over. The tops die out and are removed but when you put it into the water the next spring it should come back from the roots. This is from a friend who is in Zone 4.

Is this the plant you are talking about?

This particular plant is sold in the UK and is escaping into the wild.

Yes, Baa I think this is it..I will have to be careful it doesn't get into our lake...but it is a ways away...Diana
