Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Good morning. I've been up a few hours longer than the sun, couldn't sleep. Ms. Robin is teaching a baby how to get around and find food this morning, I hope the cats don't find it. Yesterday I noticed that there are 4 babies in the flycatcher's nest. Ms. Flycatcher was quite upset when I was weeding on the side of the house near her nest, she had a big bug in her mouth and was still hollering at me so I took my weeding elsewhere. Yesterday when I went riding Breezy we sneaked up on a red fox who was hunting in the tall grass between the county road and the fence. We got about 30 feet from him before he heard us, the wind was blowing pretty hard and we were downwind. The neighbors lost a calf, it was cleaned off good but had never gotten up, they think the sack was over it's nose and it suffocated. So, Ms. Cow will get a dairy calf to raise, I hope she takes the new one. Last night our temp got down to 32 and the weather forecast says colder tonight. My tomatoes are all either in wall-o-waters or covered with straw or grass clippings (still small plants, my basement babies). The peppers, squash and cucumbers are covered too. I am going up to Tacoma with my sister this morning to clean out Grandmas house and get it ready to sell. We are taking a pickup with a canopy and a utility trailer. There is some furniture and the basement is packed full of boxes and junk to paw through, a job I am not looking forward to because cats, mice and rats have all lived in there for the past 35 years since Grandma died and my dad just put everything in the basement. I'm also taking the lawn mower so we can make the outside look better too. Have a good weekend everyone, count your blessings.
