Crosses part 2

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

Following Tonny's previous thread - who has crossed what to what?
I'm way behind you all because I only had sanguineas blooming during the winter. I'd like to be able to give names for them but there doesn't seem to be many. The only one I can give a name to is sanguinea x Roter Vulkan (YAY!) but I have many seedpods between the different no-name sangs. I guess that will make them all sang hybrids with no name.
So- who has crossed what?????

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

I crossed my eyes looking at all the pictures of what everyone else has :)

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

LOL tiG. Your Brugs will probably have beautiful blooms on them in another month and mine will be all done blooming. With your heat you'll catch up in no time and then we'll be drooling over your pictures.
Liz, I crossed SG x EP, SG x Isabella, SG x versi Alba, versi Alba x SG, Isabella x EP,Isabella x SG, DrD x Isabella so far. Going to go out this weekend and cross Sunray with ????.

tiG, I agree with Snow lol In a month you will make everyone drool with your pictures and crosses lol

Snow, that is excellent crosses lol Keep me posted on pod development :-) My suaveolens looking hybrid has a pod pollinated by the white aurea x suaveolens hybr. and it has started to grow. Hybridizing is exciting even from the first day lol

Liz, your crosses don`t have to be unnamed lol When you made tomato-leaf x fuzzy, that were nemed crosses lol If you find the charateritics on every different sanguinea you crossed and label them so, that would be an excellent way of keeping track :-) sanguinea x Roter Vulkan, that sounds like a dream cross to do lol When did you make it? Has the pod started growing :-) ???

Hamilton, Canada

all i can do so far is just drool over pics and keep rereading Preisel's book...sigh...

"Oh to have one small flower emerge from your delicate stature dear Brugmansia of mine. Er do I long to while away the hours beneath your canopy. My heart pines for your fragrance. Your vision haunts my dreamsleep. Sigh."
Joydie 2002.

Liz come out come out wherever you are!!! The postal truck showed up just now at one o'clock. I'm so excited I can hardly type..they are WONDERFUL. Wow I can't believe what good shape they are in. I potted them up and gave them a good soaking.

Do you have a pic of the tomato leaf sanguinea FLOWER? The one you sent me has a "Y" and not like the YMCA kind of "Y". Oh I'm in BRUG HEAVEN. I'm going to have a REAL LIVE FLOWER THIS YEAR. If my knees weren't all messed up I'd be dancing round the porch...neighbours would be thinking I've really gone mad now.

I'm glad they arrived in good shape. I'll send you the picture separately - I think everybody here must be sick of my sangs.

No, Liz lol I am crazy with sangs lol I like to see the flower from tomatoleaf too and from fuzzy lol
Please post them :-)

I made a couple of more crosses this evening: Insignis gold to Insignis pink, Ecuador Pink to Insignis gold, Insignis gold to Ecuador pink and Insignis gold to Jamaica Yellow. The first named is the pollen, second is seed bearer.

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

I sure hope you're going into the brug seed business in a few months - you're going to be up to your eyeballs in seed.
Gotta love all that Ecuador Pink you're using.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Wow Cala! You're making some super crosses.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

it's making me tired reading about all her work, but she sure has gorgeous brugs

Milton, FL(Zone 8a)

My crosses have been DS x FP,BL xFP,BL x DS,BL x Isabella,
Gold Traun x BL.
And these I am not sure of yet....BL x Butterfly,Butterfly xBL,DS x Butterfly.
And while on this subject does anyone know the lineage for Isabella?Looks Insignis ish to me.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

JT, can't wait to see your field next year!

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Arlene, I think a "midnight raid" would be in order. How far away is JT from you?

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

too far for a simple raid, 5 hours? counting on pics. then again, Cala, you need to be protecting yours. i don't know anyone with brugs as big as yours.

Milton, FL(Zone 8a)

I'm just crossing whatever happens to be blooming at the same time while avoiding the single whites.
One of the seedlings from Earl's seed has a "Y" and a tiny bud.Hope there's some color there. This will be my first seedling to bloom.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

G2S, I have one of Earls that's almost open. Looks like it's yellow or pink. Lets race, lol.
Arlene, my brugs are safe unless you bring a forklift!! Plus they have passifloras growing thru them and around the wires in the green house. If I come in and the whole green house is gone, I'll know you've been there!!

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

i only have 2 volunteers so far. showed dee how to do one, but i think the pot just kept drying out and it dropped. did some this week, will see...

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Arlene, I lost a few pods that were just getting started due to drying out.

Jonesboro, GA(Zone 7b)

Arlene - one of your babies is about to bloom! You traded me several cuttings last fall, they were the first I ever had besides my old Yellow one, which TIG says is Dr Suess. I couldn't read the tag on it because it got damp. Looks like either yellow or white. I will post when it is really open in another day or two. Someday maybe I will get to do a cross too! But most of mine are already crosses, it will be interesting.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Azalea, Old Yeller, i like that. i hope i didn't send you another dr suess, but i probably did, seeing how i thought dr suess was jutner orange then. probably isabella, maybe what i call frosty pink!!! hope you like it, it's fun scattering brugs around.

Jonesboro, GA(Zone 7b)

Sure looks like it's going to be "Yeller", but the leaves aren't serated - just slightly ruffled. May have to wait til "Old Yeller" opens one to really compare.
