anyone interested in going in with me on bulbs?

Longview, TX

I am thinking of making an order from Van Engelen's or John
Scheepers...is anyone interested in going in with me? I am not interested in tulips. However there are oriental lilies, and other bulbs Im interested in.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

do you have links? there are only a couple of things I'm looking for, but they might have them

Longview, TX

http://www.vanengelen.com/
The link to John Scheeplers is on the bottom of vanengelen.com they are related companies.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I am looking at your link too. That picture looked really familiar then I remembered this posting. http://davesgarden.com/showforumphoto.php?imageid=10126 Looks a lot the same. LOL

Longview, TX

yes it does....haha

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

I would be interested in some Fritillaria meleagris. lmk if that makes it onto your list.

Longview, TX

tig....it will be on my list. We can go in on 100 bulbs for only 11.75 that is cheap. Would 50 be too much? Maybe somebody else would like some of it too.

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

What kind of bulbs are in the 100 bulbs? I might be interested in going in on it with you guys if they are bulbs that will be hardy in zone 4, and not ones I already have.

Lawrenceville, GA(Zone 7a)

They are hardy from zone 3-8. They will be in my Fall Bulb Co-op for about $ 0.09 each.

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

Great Bleek! I'll wait until then.

Lawrenceville, GA(Zone 7a)

I do not want to go in competition with Kelly333, but this was an item requested by members thru the Fall Bulb Co-op and I am working on that.

Longview, TX

Bleek...I asked about the fall coop bulbs. I never heard what your order would be. That is why I never placed an order. I will post my list here. If you have them on your list....maybe I can go on yours. Where will you be ordering?

Longview, TX

Okay here is my first draft of what Id like.
Heirloom Narcissus Collection, it is Collection O.
It has Actauea, Cheerfulness, Cragford, Hawera, Feb Gold, Little Gem, Scarlet Gem, and Thalia.
I also liked Cherry Spot, and Bridal Crown which were not in this collection.
Others to make my list are: T. Clussiana Lady Jane, Passionale, Acropolis, Muscari-Mount Hood, and Valerie Finnis, F. meleagris-Snake Head Fritillaria, Eremurus-Cleopatra, and himalaicus, Pinnochio, Allium-Firmament, Black Dragon Chinese Trumpet Lily, Casa Blanca Oriental Lily, Muscadet, and Pink Icicles. Amaryllis=Picotee.

Longview, TX

Bleek, where will you order your bulbs? I read Van Engelens
has nice big bulbs.

Oklahoma City, OK(Zone 7a)

tiG,

I planted some Fritillaria meleagris and they never came up. I ordered them on-line, but can't remember who from right off hand. Can it be our climate down here? I only got foliage from a handful of bulbs. I had planted at least 25, too.

(thinking Hirts Greenhouse)

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

Eremurus-Cleopatra, and himalaicus

I see these are on your list of what you are considering ordering. I would love to go in on these with you if you do order them. How much are they?

Longview, TX

If it is just you and I...we can choose this:
Cleopatra 6/12.50 or 12/21.75
E.himalaicus is the largest....and much more expensive...they are 6/34.00 or 12/65.25

Cleopatra is a Burnt Orange with darker red midribs...
E.himalaiscus is white, circa 1811...very large

Pinnochio is chrome-yellow and it is6/19.50 or 3/10.50 They arent cheap...but they are supposed to be nice quality ...I read up on them in the Garden Watchdog. 3 people rated Van Engelens well.

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

Wow! I guess they are expensive! No wonder I don't have any. LOL! I'm going to have to think about this one for a bit.

Noblesville, IN(Zone 5a)

Canyon Farms has some Eremurus that seem reasonable.

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

I'd go in on the eremurus if you get it. I want the white one. I'd take up to 6 bulbs.

Longview, TX

Thanks Poppysue...they are expensive. But, if more go in on them....it isnt as much for them. The big white one is the most expensive. I find the color of the chrome yellow one very exciting. Any 3 on my list Id love to have.
Honibee...they didnt have the variety (Canyon Farms) that I was looking for. Thanks for mentioning it though. I had hoped to get a big order from one place instead of more than one.

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

E.himalaicus!

Sue, are you serious about wanting 6? Kelley, are you serious about three? I would take three if we can work something out here to get the 12 pack. Maybe if Sue doesn't want six, someone else would take 3 so we could get the 12?

I'm not the one in charge here, and I'm not trying to sway anyone. I am just suggesting that I would be good for 3 of these if something could be worked out between us.

Noblesville, IN(Zone 5a)

I want allium globemaster

Longview, TX

Joan J....I would like 3....they will multiply. Maybe we can find someone else who would like 3....otherwise I will get 6.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

OK you guys ,here are the things that interested me,some I'd be willing to split or order the larger amount and split them.:The Tigrinum Lily mix (id take all 25 for 19.75 )Ememurus Cleopatra,Ememurus Ruiter Hibrid mx,Corydalis ,Anemone Blanda mix, camassia, and if 2 other people are interested, the 3 cybister Amaryllis, they come in groups of 3,I want all 3 but only one of each.So I'd need 2 other people who want one of each too.......

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

Sounds great to me Kelly, Maybe someone else will want 3 too, then we can split the 4 E. himalaicus 4 ways. If we don't find another person, I'd take an extra. Maybe if nobody else wants them, you, me and poppysue could do 4 each, then one of us wouldn't have to make up so much of the difference. Either way, whatever, I'm easy! Just count me in on those, and tell me how many I'm getting and how much money I need to send. LOL!

Longview, TX

Crestedchik...I would like Ememurus Cleopatra too. How about splitting 12...unless someone else wants it too. I could go in also with you on the Ememurus Ruiter hybrid mix...6 for 13.75....Anemone blanda mix...would like someone else to go in with us...at 100/13.75. They are the ones Id go in with you on.

Longview, TX

Joan...4 would be plenty for me to buy. Anyone else want the himalaicus? Oh Joan...I see now that you liked the E.Cleopatra...how about you, me and crestedchik get 4 apiece? That would only be 12/21.75....div by 4= 5 dollars and 44 cents.

Longview, TX

Joan...Poppysue wanted E. himalaicus too. That is 12/65.25 div by 4 is 16.31 (3 bulbs apiece) So we need either 4 people to buy 3, or one to by 6...and two others by 3. If 3 of us get 4 bulbs...that would be higher than just buying 3 yourself at 17.25 which is a rip.

Longview, TX

Anyone want to go in with HoniBee on Allium Globemaster? I will if someone else will too. 16.83 will get us 4 apiece if we have another to go in with us. Price total is 50.50
(That is a big savings off of 6 bulbs for 26.50)

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

However it works out Kelly is fine with me. I want these real bad, so I will take up to 6 if I need to, but would rather only have 3 or 4. I'm glad you are doing the bookwork on this one! LOL!

I'm game to go in with you and crestedchick on the E.Cleopatra too. Sounds good to me.

I looked up the anemone blanca, but it wouldn't do well for me here, so I can't help out with that one. I already have an amaryllis that hates me and I didn't look up the other ones so I don't know if they would work in zone 4 or not.

It's goofy that when I looked up the E. himalaicus, I found sites that said it was only hardy to zone 5 or 6, but I saw on HGTV last weekend where a gardener in zone 4 was growing them and they were lovely! That's what has me on the mission to get them. LOL! I fell in love with them. I think sometimes you have to take a chance if they are marginal and see how they will do, plus, every site will give you different hardiness info so that makes it hard figure out.

If anyone wants to split something that I don't already have and it *might* have a chance of surviving zone 4, I'm willing to give it a try. I am working on landscaping 5 acres, so I have plenty of room to experiment, and I'm dreaming of a beautiful yard to sit in when I'm old and wearing purple. :)

Longview, TX

Tig...u still want Fritillaria meleagris? If you do I will half it with you. Thats 100 bulbs for 11.75
So we get 50 bulbs for 5.88 apiece. LMK

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Yes - count me in on the E. himalaicus. Three is good! but like I said I'll take 6 if need be. I'll also take 3 of the Globemaster allium that Honi wants.

Hey Joan - I saw that show too!! That's why I want them!! Of course he had a huge stand of them. They were really gorgeous!!

Longview, TX

Ok ....got what you said. I am going out of town. When I get back we can order. I will make sure nobody else wants in, finalize the order, collect your money...then ORDER. I cant wait.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

yes Kelley!!

Laurel, MD(Zone 7a)

Ok folks I want I want I want --- please let me know if the order has gone in. I would like some allium globemaster and some eremurus and some Fritillaria I am addicted to bulbs. Let me know I don't mine take the left overs!!

Longview, TX

happyoma....I just got back to town....havent sent the order off yet. I have to have everyone's money first. So let me look this all over again...and figure it out. I will post it...then y'all send your money in to me. I will then send the money off.

Longview, TX

Longview, TX

Nobody wants any of these?

Longview, TX
