Chartruese leaves passiflora bloomed

Palmyra, VA(Zone 7a)

Here is the flower from an earlier thread http://davesgarden.com/showthread/234221.html. The filaments are purple the first 1/3 from the center then white. Flowers are about 3.25-3.5" wide. Very frangrance.

It isn't as dark as P. 'Byron Beauty' (P. incarnata x edulis, by Dr. Knight) and is a bit smaller in size.

Tim - it's awesome!! Do you have other seedlings with the chartreuse foliage... or is the only one?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Nice passiflora Tim. I've only found one that I didn't like and that is Sunburst and only because it stinks. Of course it was on a walk through trellis and I had to smell it each time I went to the garden. Keep up the good work Tim.

Sue,

I have another 10 or so seedlings from same cross, but I may destroy most of them, not too healthy looking.
Also have a few seedlings with ligher colored leaves from P. vitifolia x incarnata. Caterpillars really like muching on these!

Shirley,
You mean you don't like the smell of moth balls?!! :) I'm sure Calalily or tiG would love to have your 'SUnburst'. It isn't that bad, unless you have many blooms opening at the same time.

Tim and Susie:

Are you having any trouble rooting your P. Fls. this spring? I am starting mine in perlite, like I always do, after 3-1/2 wks, they have no roots, only callus on bottom, so I have been putting rootone on them again and planting in potting soil, plastic bag over and they are all rooting. Do not know why they seem to be so slow this year?? Lost so many Coccinea, Alata Ruby Glo, soaked up water and turned to mush, should have potted them up and I might have kept them all.

Any suggestions? Please HELP!!

Tim will have to answer that one. I'm no expert when it comes to rooting things.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

yes Shirley, I've been begging everywhere for a Sunburst!!! (Tim, you've learned me too well!!)

Hibiscus,

I haven't done that much rooting this spring to notice any changes. As a matter of fact I took cuttings of P. 'Purple Haze' about two weeks ago, first attempt to root anything this spring. I didn't take special care, I stuck them into the soil without hormone.

One thing that is different though is that I have suckers coming up everywhere. P. 'Purple Haze' is sending them up, even though I gave the stock plant away recently, the escaped roots are pushing up suckers. P. 'Byron Beauty' is doing the same. I accidently servered one large root while transplanting my bougie, I buried the section that came up in a pot, now I have several suckers.

Tim, seems like they are doing better rooting in soil this time.

I was trying Alata-Ruby Glo in Perlite, they were drawing up moisture in the stems and rotting, so now, before I lose the plant, better start some in soil.

Thanks so much!
