Falling Buds on HG

What is causing my HG(Double Orange) to loose it's bud? It is planted in a pot in the ground....gets morning sun and shade starting about 11Am. I am not doing anything different to it then the rest....never had this happen before. Any Ideas?

You do nothing wrong, Glory. Thats a problem of HG.

Mme Blin put hers two years ago in the garbage can - in August!!! It was her second try with HG. It was full of buds, some flowers had already come through the calyx. When she came one morning into her garden, almost all buds were laying on the ground. It happened also with her first plant.
Mme Blin never hestitates very long, when a plant makes problems. They all end up in the garbage can.

Glory, it seems to me that Eric said one time that his HG really loved the heat. Maybe trying to put it in more sun would work and maybe not. There must have been some reason that he shredded his HG too. I'm hoping now that maybe Iowa's weather might be just right. Wish we had magic answers to some of these kinds of problems.

We use something called STS on Christmas cacti to keep their buds from dropping, wonder if it'd work on the HG? Here is a link http://www.actahort.org/books/181/181_57.htm

i remember eric posting that he couldn't get the pollen to take on HG, don't think anyone had an answer for him. seems like that's why he composted it, said if he couldn't breed with it he didn't need it...isn't that right?

I hope it just needs lots of heat. That I have. Got one this spring and it is growing nicely but hasn't "Y'd" yet, so I don't know when it will bloom. Also got a Marrakech. Has anyone ever seen it bloom? I have never been able to find a picture of it.
