I have some small rooted brug babies that just traveled across the country. So they are stressed. I replanted them into a fast draining soil. They immediately perked up. does anyone know if they would like to be misted alot during the day? It is not that hot here in No. California, though by Wednesday the temp will be in the 90s. Here it can hot during the day (rarely in the 90s) and usually it is sweater weather at night. I would not want to get a fungus. thanks
misting brug babies
You might mist them the first couple of days, but it really isn't necessary. Sometimes when I get them in the mail, they wilt the first day or so, then they perk up. You might keep them a bit shaded the first few days too.
You lucky zone 10 person!!! keeping them watered good til established should work, bet they'll like your cooler nights and 80s are great, better than our 90s and super humidity. you'll have giant trees this time next year.
Hi Arlene, I do not think i really am in zone 10. That is what the zone map on Daves said. But other zone maps always says zone 9. We have some years where it is below freezing and our tropicals can die to the ground. This year my 10 year old double white brug died to the ground. But my sang just got frost damage on the top foot or so of a 12 foot by 8 feet bush. In my neighborhood the brugs in peoples' yards are huge and have been in full bloom for at least 2 months. I must be the only one that had such devasting die back but it is finally putting out ground shoots. And I have never had any insect problems. I do notice snails live them but they grow faster than the snails can eat.
Kell, there are little "microclimates" here. It will be 10* warmer here at the house which is only a couple of miles from the green house. We are on the side of a hill and the GH is in a valley. I can watch the temp fall on the digital readout in the car as I go down the hill.
