I need your help, as I'm totally interior design incapacitated.
We are building our home ourselves, and I am trying to put together some sort of plan for finishing the interior now, so I know what I want to do when we get to that point. After we are putting so much money into this, I don't want to have to put more money into re-doing it again. I would love to hear your input about what you would do if you were in my shoes, or what you have done and liked, or what you don't like. I have no idea, and I've looked for sites to help me with this, but not found any good ones yet.
Most of the house will be carpeted, the only rooms not carpeted will be the kitchen, back entry, and laundry room. Would you put the same carpet throughout the house? I am leaning that way, but not sure. I want the interior decor to flow throughout the house if you know what I mean, without being monotonous and boring.
Also, what to do with the walls to make them flow from room to room?
Any help and ideas would be most appreciated. I've tried to take a digital photo of the floor plan, but it's not too great.
If you divide the floor plan in half lengthwise, the top part from left to right is:
Master bath, entry with stairs to the basement straight on, and then to the entryway with laundry room below that and kitchen next to the right, then it's dining room, recreation room, bedroom.
The bottom portion is from left to right, Master bedroom, living room, bedroom/maybe office, bathroom, bedroom.
Any ideas with finishing the inside would be most appreciated. The woodwork/cabinets/cupboards/doors will all be oak.
Can you tell I'm stressing out here? I need to have some sort of a plan in place when we get to that point, and I am trying to think ahead so we don't get into crunch time and do something we will regret later.
All your thoughts about what you like and dislike in interior decorating will be much appreciated.
