"Blue Flags" in the bog garden

I believe these common iris can take wet feet. If that is correct, when should I transplant them?

my friend has them in her pond. you mean like the blue dutch iris that are starting to open now? She told me to put them in my pond now. they take wet feet.

for several years i have only transplanted them when it seems that they are going to burst the pot. They really have bloomed better as they get somewhat rootbound.
