Amyone find some new ideas or things that work for those of us who dont get around so well for keeping up in the garden this summer// I am in need of some more strength and more ability to get things from here to there. Shirley
Any new ideas???
Hi Marclay..How are you doing?
I don't really have any great ideas but want you to know I am thinking of you. I know what you mean about getting around though. Sometimes I just can't get one foot to go in front of the other. I do have a cane that I use to get going. It has what I call a step-over. It attaches to the cane towards the bottom and then I can step over to get going. Parkinsons is a strange thing. When your mind is saying, "go feet" and your feet reply "Say what?!" lol. But put a low obstacle in their path and away you go. Also, the heat really saps the strength from me and then I just have to give in and quit for a while.
Like you, it's the getting that is oft the problem. Once there I can do the work. It's my feet that don't work, not my hands.
Hooray...With the help of my DH I have all the back flower beds finished. We put 24 bags of mulch out last night and today. Although I did have him dig a 20" wide by 21' long new bed along the drive. (Uh, that's not planted yet.) Needs soil. Hope to put Siberian lavendar in there. But the plants I rec'd don't look too healthy right now. I potted them and hope they pull through.
Well, I didn't really help out with any answers but just wanted to say "Hi".

Hi Bobbie Appreciate your thoughtfulness. I was away fr three days. I got some planting done today but am paying for it tonight. Early bedtime. I never saw a cane like you described. I often think I am raising my foot higher than I am and stumble on things like rugs , Sounds as if you got a lot accomplished. I am doing better. It has taken me emotionally a long time to get over my job loss and now I am enjoying having some time for me and what I want to do. Sunday morning as I was taking Corky to the kennel I came upon a very bid black bear sharing the road with me, Beautiful. Deer and turkey and birds of all kinds and turkey and geese and rabbits and groundhogs even are beautiful as they go about their life. Only we humans get hung up on circumsytances I guess. Good to talk to you and thanks for thinking of me Shirley
I have changed my user name from ROBBOB to naturegal, I like that better.
Shirley..Did you really see a bear. Awesome!!!!!!
Having to leave a job you like is always hard. You will have to find something new to focus on. I always feel good after working in the flowerbeds. Tired but good. I do my best thinking there.
I marvel at the beauty of nature and how so many people are in such a hurry and do not have or take the time to, as the song goes, "Stop and Smell the Roses", or really listen to the birds singing. It's there, they just don't really see it.
Life is simply WONDERFUL!! :) :)

Hi Like your new name too. Yes today was a bummer later today/ Had a gas pipeline leak near a busy intersection I had to go look at which tied me up for hours and then had a class that had to be canceled because we had an ATV wreck and had to fly someone. So Im just ready to call it a day for sure and wait till tomorrow comes and see what it brings. Another meeting I know. Haz MAt I cant skip. I watered my flowers real god when i planted them but the 85 degrees is too much and I dont have a hose I can drsg there/ Boys from the firehouse unloaded some barrells of water next to them for me so that will help. It is so good to have nice young people in a community Shirley
Ah, it's The Gardener Formerly Known As RobBob!
Today all I did outside was give the dogs a good run and prop up with sticks what foxgloves the rain and wind didn't break or flatten. I did take a walking tour of the yard and, despite seeing so much we need to do still, enjoyed looking.
Sleep sweet, Shirley. :) Hope tomorrow is better!
