This versicolor is a parent of Charleston and Tiara. Its a sensitive (in my climate) plant with very long (48cm) beautiful apricot (peach) color. Kaskade offspring has top flowers, but is often a little bit sensitive.
B. versicolor Kaskade
oh my!!!!
Breathtaking!!! Monika they are beautiful. Is the plant sensitive to the cool weather?
Words escape me!! Wow!!
Yes, it is. I think, Florida or California climate suits best. I keep it in the GH until July. In cool summers,it has to stay in it.
Monika,
It is a beauty.
You might have the right place, Glory, it would be worth a try. Kaskade flowers very well at Mme Blins homeplace. She lives in the upper Rhine valley, a very mild region with early spring and late fall.
yep.... it would grow great in my yard...lol
Monika,
I'd love to have one but looks like I'd have to come and get it. LOL
<<**Jumping up and down and pointing**Monika..I want this one!!! :-)
Monika . . It would also like my Texas weather. We have early spring and late fall. I think I will book a flight to Germany - - what an expensive cutting this would be LOL but I know I would have a wonderful visit.
Monika - that is awesome. Versicolors sure put on a show.
When you talk about cool summers, what temperatures do you mean?
Breathtaking!
It's beautiful!!
June temperatures are between 12 - 18°C, nights can be between 4°C and 8°C. We do get sometimes temperatures up to 30°C during the summer, but it could be the next day only 12° - 15°C. Two years ago, we had July nights with only 1°C. 0°C is the freezing point. It is the drastic change in temperatures, B. versicolor cant get along with. It needs it warmer during the winter to avoid roots dying and an early start in the spring. About 120km south from my place, B. versicolor Kaskade blooms like crazy. Its the warmer Rhein/Main part close to the so called subtropical Bergstraße and the warmer Rheinpfalz Region.
I love that!Guess here it would also have to stay inside till July!
my visicolor's are out all year, well all my brugs are out side all year Wow 30's in july, that gives me chills just thinking about it
As much as I would love this one it would'nt do well here either. It's beautiful Monika.
I keep it for breeding purposes und it flowers very good - in the GH. For pictures, I have to carry it outside LOL!
The EP x Rothkirch cross flowering now seems to be a very robust hybrid. The pink gets deeper and deeper. Its better as the mother EP, the flowers are more sturdy. As soon as I get the pictures back from the Foto lab, they will be posted.
I have a greenhouse that I use year round, hint hint.
If I could grow ones like this I'd be tempted to pay a few hundred dollars a month to keep mine heated all winter. LOL
Snow, you can!! I heat my green house 45* at night in the winter and I had blooms all winter.
WWOOOWWWWW!
cristina
Cala, it would cost so much to heat it when the temps are 10-30 below zero.
Oops, forgot it gets cold there. It gets in the twenties here for a couple of weeks.
That would be a heat wave up here!LOL
It got to 24 below 0 once. Everybody had frozen water pipes. That was about 15 or more years ago and set a record I think. Usually one week in January, it will drop into the upper teens.
Yes, Jeanne. Mother plant was B. x candida flore plena 'Tutu'.
I keep coming back to this thread just to look at the picture. I think this would be a favorite of mine. Just beautiful. Wonder how long it will take to get this thread on the next page so I don't come back again and again, and............I rarely go to the second page unless the first page is full with new posts.
