It is doing really well this year. Thanks for the info

I've got scads of the stuff - I think it's Iris pseudacorus. Nice pic!

Sweet flag is a totally different plant. It doesn't bloom the pretty yellow blooms that you see here. I have lots of this stuff around since it grows wild here. Pretty though.

It is Iris Pseudacorus. Multiply's like crazy also. Wonderful bog plant and also does wonderful in any other part of the yard.

Mingsmimi: Yes, it is hardy even to us zone 5 er's. They usually don't get as tall in the ground is all.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Mine get over 5 feet tall in the ground!

CC: I read somewhere that they didn't grow as tall in the dry ground, so it is nice to know they get that tall. I have some in a large pot, that need to be separated. I am going to put some in the ground. I wintered over some in the pond in the house and they got to be 5 ft. tall, didn't think they would get that tall in the house either and they multiplied very well even though it was winter.

My ground is pretty damp so maybe thats why, they grow wild on my lakeshore along with the purple flag iris, the purple stays small though....

Our Iris pseudacorus needs to be hacked in two every 3 years, they grow huge! Nice plants though and we are lucky enough to have dragonfly and their lavae use them

New Albany, MS(Zone 7a)

My Iris pseudacorus gets about 4 foot in dry soil. Will get much taller if it is planted in a damp area. It does multiply like crazy, but not in an unattractive way. I use it around my house where the drain spouts are and where there is any water flow off of house. Wonderful erosion control also. I rarely use it in my ponds. I tend to like to use my water space for lily's.
