hello azsteve905 (Billy and Steven). I don't think I can quite call myself a ponder. My pond is tiny as can be but I'm also getting ready to build a bog garden in a kiddy pool on my deck so that ought to be interesting....LOL

Welcome to Dave's

Steve, Welcome to Dave's Garden. There are a lot of us who have ponds, and some of us belong to pond clubs. I'm in Southwestern Michigan. We have a pond club and are on the web, go to www.backyardponderingsociety.com, this will lead you to our meetings, pictures of our ponds and pond help. Also links to some of the best sites.

What zone are you in?

Hi Billy and Steven, I have been a member of Dave's for quite sometime and have a pond. Mine is 9ft x 9ft and 24 inches deep and there is a 10 ft stream or (waterfall) that dumps into it and at the top of the stream I have a Bog filter. Their is a man here on Dave's named Alhanks and I used his idea on a bog filter instead of spending lots of $$$$ on a bought Bio-Filter. The bog at the top is also 24 inches deep and full of gravel, pea pebbles, lava rock, and some little rocks that are man made that help with your PH. The bog is about 3-4 ft around and tear drop shaped and dumps into the stream. I have Gold Fish and Koi that I am very proud of. I have a nursery out here in Ga that I am friends with the people that own it, and I can buy 8 inch Koi and Gold Fish for $5.00. I just got a solid white (albino) Koi yesterday that I am very excited about along with all the others. I have used Barley Straw bags from the day I put my pond in, and it has seemed so far to prevent the green yucky water. I also brought one of my Algae Eaters from my indoor Aquarium out there and I think he is loving it. I'll have to bring him inside before it gets cold ofcourse, I just hope he isn't too big to fit in my 55 gallon tank with my sharks! Well, as you can tell, I am very excited to have my pond. I have wanted one for years and just got it this spring. So if I can help you in anyway, please just ask. I am learning as I go and everyone here at Dave's will help you soooooo much!! Well, I'd also be Honored to be your Ponder Friend and I know here at Dave's, you'll make tons of friends just as I have!! Good Luck!!!!!!!!!

Thanks, Traci S
