Thank you everyone for the wonderful, warm, fuzzy, wishes.
Its a good thing you can't get my bronchitis/tonsilitis virus over the net.I'm sick as a dog.
I had a wonderful birthday outing with my children. What a surprise when the staff of the restaurant came to the table singing Happy Birthday and added a chorus about being "OLD!!!" The dinner was fabulous and we laughed and joked and had a great time. My grand daughter was amazed when she saw the Sparkler sizzling on my slice of birthday cake...she said "WOW gramma MomMom you got firecracker cake!!"LOL...she 3 and a half. She didn't want any of the cake because she said it was on FIRE (just a hint as to the number of candles) and the cake was too hot. When I blew the candles out (with everyone's help) she told me I was a good girl....LOL...then she had some cake.
My neighbour was kind enough to come over to my house for the past 3 days and help me thin out my perennials that are taking over my front flower beds. She did the digging for me as some of them had roots growing down to China. I gave her a couple of pots of Brugs.
I put in some brugs and of course the porch is covered with pots of brugs that I grew from seeds. Ever since I gave Alexis those brugs there has been a steady stream of neighbours past my house. Some of these people I've not seen in years and I've lived here on the street for 20 years. 90% of them have never spoke before ..LOL.
Everyone who passes by wants to know what the strange huge plants are and they add that they HEARD I had some wonderful new plants. I get out Preissel's book...show them the flowers and they are amazed. Next start the hints that go something like this..."Gosh I would love to get even just a little piece of one of these." Then I remember what Monika said about her early experiences and I just tell them.."well maybe next year" I can SELL you one if mine survive the winter. At least it will help pay for the fertilizer that they suck up like a blood transfusion and the cost to keep them watered now that we have to pay for water usage.
And last but not least I have a new addition to my family. Her name is Rebecca and she is a purebred 12 week old Rottweiler. Rebecca was my birthday present from my children. "Becca" has beautiful markings with brown patches over her eyes that look like eyebrows! Its amazing how snuggly and loving she is. I can't believe how easy she is to train...tell her something just once and she gets it right off. She loves to sleep in the entrance hallway in front of the glass door...I guess I won't lose anymore plants from my garden by the "MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT DRIVEBY PLANT DIGGER."
Well once again...thanks for the birthday wishes posted here and all the ones I received in my private email as well...what a wonderful group everyone here is...hugs and kisses to all of you (have my face covered with a surgical mask you you won't catch my germs)

Joydie . . I love Rotties. Had 2 for many years and they were the best dogs that I ever had. They are very smart and loving. I really miss them.

Sorry you lost the rotties..I know its hard to lose a pet as they are just like family.
I can't get over how smart Rebecka is. What a darling too!! There is a purebred rotti just across the street and another one 2 blocks over...I'll have to breed her a couple of times and then have her fixed.
Joydie . . . You make me want another puppy. I am sure that I will get another one but it is just not the right time for me. I like to spend a lot of time with a new puppy and I can't do it now. Before you breed her be sure that she is OFA'd and the the male that you breed her is OFA'd. Large breed dogs have a problem with hip dysplashia (don't know if I spelled correctly). I bred mine twice and had her spayed. Oh, I miss her so much. It was July 4th last year that she passed away and my male two months before that. I know you are having so much fun with her and also wanted to tell you that I got my female for my birthday 10 years ago.
