Mimi, I say it just like it's spelled ~ Mar-jor-am or Mar-jer-am with the emphasis on the first syllable "Mar".
More precisely: "Mar" as in "mark", "jor" like "jurr" or "burr" and "am" as in "jam". But us Texans are known for butchering the English language, so I don't know if it's correct. I think as long as the other person knows what you're talking about, it should be okay. If they still give you guff about your pronunciation, put on your best faux British accent and say, "Oh, please forgive me. The chaps who taught me latin were miserable at botany." ;-P!
