I decided today to clean my pond and install a new fountain pump that I got for Christmas. Last year I placed a pot with a Bengal Tiger Canna that tiG gave me in the top of the pond above the waterfall. When I cleaned the pond today I couldn't believe the difference in the amount of algae compared to what it used to be. It did have a lot of sand in the bottom of the pond but the algae was almost gone. I also had a lot of parrots feather in the pond and that could have helped also.

Sounds like your pond has become more balanced. That's a good thing :~) as you can tell by the absence of algae.
