Yea I got it!!! Who needs a computer whizo, me of course.
here is another shot. They aren't really good pictures, still haven't got the hang of this digital camera yet. Just don't know what my problem is. I just am not very good with gadgits.
Red Justicia Number 2
WOW...That is a tall one. You did fine on the picture.
Well, not to bad, I just have to get the hang of this digital camera. Do you know if there is a way to post more than 1 picture at a time. I took pictures of the white and yellow to compare but don't know how I can put all 3 in one posting. Any suggestions??
If you have a photo software you can condense them in one photo....hard to explain, but I think they call it a collage
Cool Justicia, am happy you wee able to get it.
And the photo is smashing....You've done a great job posting
That's a good pic Dee - lots to catch the eye and give varied interest. As already remarked, that is a slender Justicea. Now there is a point in question; more name changing. I knew it as Jacobinia for so many years, and Justicia was an equally nice but different looking plant.
I will post a pic of the only shrub I knew under the generic name of Justicia, which was J.ghiesbreghtiana syn with J.spicigera. At one time it came under the name of Jacobinia spicigera.
Hey! this is brain aching stuff - just for you if you are interested.
Peter.
Hey Peter, thanks. I have always known them as Justicia, but some people refer to them as Jacobinia. I just pulled out the Horticulture Encyclopedia. There isn't a listing for Jacobinia, however, when you look under Justicia, under J. Carnea the syn for it is Jacobinia carnea, common name, Brazilian Plume, King's crown. So I guess they are saying the are one and the same??? What do you think. You are right, this is hurting my brain. I just came in to take a break from the heat. I am sitting at 90 degrees right now, and humid, boy like sitting in a sauna. I am trying to start my daylily bed, but getting nowhere fast. Getting lazy I guess. Oops, just looked at Justicia spicigera, now I want one of those too. Oh boy, I guess it never ends, the wanting and planting.
Hello Dee - Yes, we must assume one of the same if marked a synonym.
What is life if not wanting that which gives us joy, be it possession of plants or just admiring natures work in the gardens.
Pleased you did not take my writing on names as rantings. Names are not everyones 'cup of tea'. And communications over the web are not always understood as meant. I do like plant nomenclature. Also try my best to come to terms with common names - so many for the same plant.
Good luck with the daylily bed down there in Florida.

Hey thanks for the link Peter. I just made it a favorites in my personal folder.
I don't normally let things like name corrections or suggestions/opinions bother me. There seems to be alot of different names for some of the same plants, that just makes it harder to identify properly. I try to put the right name on things but not always successful. If someone thinks it might have a different name than what I have they could be correct or we both could be right. Life is to short to worry about things like that I think. Thanks again. Dee
Dee..I sure could use a piece of that one if you want to trade for some other kind of tropicals...I have pink, yellow, and had white. :-)
Kyle, sure not a problem. I have the white, yellow and pink as well. If you want a white piece I have a couple of those rooting as well. Will let you know if I am successful in the rooting of these.
