If you receive a email regarding an Iris package(stinking iris or iris foetidissima) that you were to send me PLEASE disregard it. I sent the message to intheweeds after many people informed me of problems. He in return sent that email to everyone on the trading forum. I have blocked his email. If he is capable of this I am afraid of what else he might send. I apologize if you received this e-mail, but I did not send it to you, just to intheweeds.

You were a bit hard on him. He comes through with his trades, but sometimes his personal life comes first and he is late. He is a good trader. I've traded 3 times with him and got seeds everytime.
Deanne, I think you were one of the lucky ones. He makes good on some, and others he doesn't. My experience trading with him wasn't so good either. I didn't make a big deal of it as I have gotten some wonderful trades from many good traders. I just made a note to not trade with him again. But for him, I'm afraid he's burning some bridges.
Deanne, you were indeed lucky. he posted looking for what he supposedly was going to trade me six weeks prior (i sent him about 1000 milkweed seeds), good intent, i guess. always wanted to ask how many of these traders who think he is great received some of my seeds. Sorry, not upset anymore but i know of quite a few people he never completed his trades with. Why would anyone with all the problems he has overload himself with way too many trades? he can't have much time to be planting, with his problems i have read about. it is one thing to have "problems" delay a trade, but when this has been ongoing on for 8-9 months, you would think he would QUIT making new trades!
I too sent him an awful lot of seeds. I am still waiting for mine. He seems like an awfully nice person and I think he will eventually come through with the seeds even if it is much later on. Sometimes things get in the way of following up on commitments. If he doesn't ever send me the seeds, I just hope that he can get his life back in order and that things will start to improve for him and that my seeds caused him a little bit of happiness. Bless his heart, I know that he meant well when he started. Unless we have walked a mile in someone else's shoes we have no idea what is going on with that person. Lets just pray for him folks. There are certainly a lot more important things in life than receiving more seeds to add to our stash. Sermon over.....On with trading.
I too have traded w/ this guy in the past.....took a long time for him to get me the tomato seeds he promised me, but after a couple of reminder emails, he did come through.
Like it's already been said, we've all had our traumas in life (I've just had two major ones in the past 2 months alone)......and I'd quit trading because I knew I couldn't keep up with it. Just this week have I started again, and only due to the kindness, patience and understanding of the traders.
So, I guess "forwarned is forearmed".......know in advance that your trades in return might be slow.....or not at all, and make your trade accordingly.
Hi Mom, I always loved that expression. My daughter always would come at me with, "But Mom, who in the world would want 4 arms?" Well said concerning the trading. I hope that your disasters have ceased for awhile. Life certainly does havve its ups and downs amd hills and valleys but aren't we glad we are alive and able to make that journey. Happy Easter.

:-)
ok agreed.....................................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm actually glad it came up cuz I've been the unfortunate victim of a couple of life's tragedies and some of our fellow traders weren't exactly sympathetic or understanding. Fortunately alot of other traders were and it makes me hang in with this site. I didnt feel it necessary to actually try to explain or justify the death of my father or my chronic lymphoma so I just let them "vent". Maybe this thread came up at a very appropriate time - as a reminder. Happy holidays and good fortune with the New Year to all (and I do mean ALL)
Anaid, I think most folks on DG are understanding about circumstances that may keep you from completing a trade. I'm sorry you encountered people who made an issue of it, but I'm glad you didn't let those folks spoil DG for you.
I have a couple of general comments about when problems arise with completing a trade... I think the most important thing is communication, just letting people know there's a problem at your end. Depending on the situation, you might end up delaying your end of the trade, or if you've received their plants and can't send yours, you might see if they'd be happy being reimbursed somehow, at least for postage.
Thanks Critter-o, your reassurance is appreciated. It's never my intention to not follow thru with a trade and I try to keep the communication going but sometimes like these past few months things just happened. I dont want for people to feel they cant trade with meand it was truly unavoidable. I've even gone above and beyond by including "bonuses" cuz I know I like that when I get it. It was just a bad time of the year for me. Thanks for being one of the many understanding gardeners I have had the DG pleasure to find.......
Anaid, my Spiders are growing! I don't think the ginger is going to make it though...it looks like maybe it has died, but I have just kept it in the pot in hope of seeing something good happen...I hope everything is better for you now. Merry Christmas and take care!!

Janet. Don't giv e up on your ginger. I have gingers and mine started going dormant about a week ago. They will totally die back to the ground. Don't cut the leave s off or remove any of the dieing foliage as it is producing sugars for next years growth.
Mine usually take quite awhile to coem back up too. They like it really warm. Just about the time I think they aren't going to do anything they will emerge.
I just let Mother Nature water them through the winter, and don't start watering them again til I se e new growth starting so the bulbs don't rot.
Even here if Florida, my curcumas are very late coming up. I plants some colorful cool weather annuals around them to provide some color in their space and when they come up, you can just pull up any annuals hanging on.
