New White Brugmansia 'Phantasm's Tears' ..opinions please!?

Coal Center, PA(Zone 6a)

This is a white brug my PSU hort genetics major daughter hybridized awhile back.
I have just called Holly's white. She now calls Phantasm's Tears.
I have grown on because of the slenderness .. and the whiskers point down ???
Is this unusual?
I am awaiting bloom again to see if it continues true.
But is it worth keeping?

Thanks for opinions.

my opinion is that it's gorgeous!!! I love it.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Its beautiful, the tendril handing down,is that why the tears???

If you think of culling this one feel free and mail it all to me lol ;-) No, to be serious lol This is a to-die-for-shape. Seems like a perfect mix of equal versicolor and suaveolens ... what really called a silent "Wow!" forth on my lips was the very small calyx and the exceptional long narrow corolla tube :-) If you ever get a spare cutting of this one LMK :-) Whatever you do, don`t cull it. Its a beauty and almost all flower :-)

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

It's beautiful and definitely worth keeping.

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

Thanks for positive comments. I was not thinking to cull.
Just wondered if a worthwhile prodigy .

This plant is about 4 years old. She hybridized at 20 while a senior at PSU.
I almost lost last year when the greenhouse heat went and the top froze.
But it is coming back good from the mainstem now (o: About 1 1/2" diameter.

I just checked her tags. It is # 33 'Charles Grimaldi' x 'suaveolins white' LOL.
About all she had to work with at that time.

She went on to another major in art/graphic arts. A sculptor, artist, and
makes movies. But best are her action figure sculptures.

Phantasm is her logo.It means 'illusion' or figment of the imagination. Yes, 'tears' because of the whiskers.
And because the long corolla gives the illusion of falling teardrop.

It is very fragrant.

I agree with Tonny...if it blooms this way the second time its worth keeping because it is so different...so start those cuttings now to be prepared!!LOL :-) I'd swap ya something for one.

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Alice . . it is such a lovely flower. So pretty and I love the shape and the length. Also, the name is very fitting for this flower.

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Its a beautiful flower. This type occurs rather seldom in crosses and worth keeping. Please place a picture again in July - August.

Saint Petersburg, FL(Zone 9b)

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Alice,
Everything has already been said......very nice. :-)

Ooops!!! Irish, I would have done that lol lol lol

Here`s praying, that there will be many stems from the main trunk and that the flowers this year will be identical with those from the first flush lol it is too special to change shape or color now, that we have seen it :-)

You guys are making me laugh!
I will make sure it stays growing well and try for lots of cuttings.
Also, will post when it blooms again.

Thanks for all the good comments.
Most appreciated (o:

Beautiful!!!

city?? lol sticks, AR(Zone 7a)

do uneducated opinions count? the flower is lovely but what struck me first was the shot--------------the only color in pic comes from flower and a bit of green on stem-the rest is a faded into black backdrop. VERY DRAMATIC not sure who took photo or if it was deliberate, but it compliments the flower very well.

Cheryl, that is a wonderful description *lol* I have not seen anything like this shape. For once I am not dreaming of pinks, because this one is just perfect in white.

Co.Wicklow, Ireland(Zone 8b)

I really like the shape of this one too!

Dripping Springs, TX

Oh Alice it seems we all luv it! Please don't use the compost word! That word gives me goose bumps now.

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Lovely, your daughter is a brug genious!

Lake Toxaway, NC(Zone 7a)

I have dark corners that this bruggie would brighten up nicely (hint! hint! for a cutting). You daughter sounds amazingly talented and diverse. She will continue to use all these interests and talents all her life; lucky girl.

Coal Center, PA(Zone 6a)

I am surprised to see this brug back from the archives!!

I was not sure this brug would live a few years back.
But it has come back nice.

Not my plant to make decisions (even though I saved it ..lol).
I have been waiting for Holly to say what I can do with it.
