Looking for some water Plants

Plymouth, PA(Zone 5b)

Hi I spoke with my Local nursery about planting flowers around my pool, some of the ideas they gave me were:

LOBELIA CARDINALIS "Cardinal Flower"
Ligularia dentata 'Othello' "Leopard Plant"
IRIS VERSICOLOR Blue Flag Iris
IRIS PSEUDACORUS: Yellow Flag Iris
CALTHA PALUSTRIS 'MULTIPLEX': Marsh marigold
Louisiana Iris ‘Black Gamecock’
Acorus gramineus ‘Aureopusillus Minimus’

thanks

tamlamb, I have a lot of Iris pseudocarpus (Yellow Flag) and I'd be glad to send you some; just email me.

I am wondering though - is the soil around your pool really moist? If not, you don't have to limit yourself to those plants that like having wet feet - in fact, if your pool is in full sun, you may NOT want to use a lot of water-loving plants (unless you have kids that do a lot of cannonballs and shoot water EVERYWHERE :)

The only place my marsh marigold will bloom is in moist soil about 25' from the edge of the water! The soil is very moist there. I have a native bog garden with violas (wild violets), solomons seals, trilliums, may apples and jackin the pulpit groing at the edge, and miterwort, ragwort, skunk cabbage, cattails, waterleaf, blue phlox, starry false solomons seal, green amaranth growing IN the water

Hi Go thanks for your reply. My kids do a lot of cannonballs but I dont think they soak it. Maybe the pool man misunderstood my question. I will try searching the net more for plants around pool.
