Differences

I have an Isabella finally blooming but don't see any differences between it and the Frosty Pink. Maybe I need to get new glasses. LOL

know what you meen I got a insigns pink looks like frosty to me waiting for it to bloom again so I can look at it with my glasses off....lol

I agree, if i could start over i'd get one suavolens pink. the isabella does have more white at the top, and i believe i remember the bloom is fatter, yours will probably be like that with next blooms. but the thing is, at least my flowers, change all year. the beautiful frosties that in the spring are horizontal with the top folded back, looking so pretty, in the summer hang straight down and go yellow. the doc start white in the spring, the first night they bloom, which doesn't happen later. and am i relieved, my cg, jo and doc i thought all looked the same are all doc. don't see any need to get CG. I know now how Brugman call cull, though i haven't seen HG bloom yet so i don't understand that one. gonna have to do some thinning this year.
Glory, i tried to get pollen off just opened BF, it was so windy. there was almost no pollen and the wind ruined the flower over night, couldn't do it to the other bloom. gonna try to get it on creamsickle, should open next week. there again, hate to ruin the first bloom, might wait til they both bloom at the same time, hopefully next month.

Isabella is just a shade different pink when the blooms start to fade, and it's a little fatter. The plants grow about the same and I may have to cull one to make room this winter.

Which one has the best pollen.....Isabella or Frosty pink?

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

They both have large amounts of pollen. My FP sets seed much easier than Isabella.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Glory, Don't know about FP yet but Isabella has good pollen. I used Isabella pollen on my SG and every one took. It's also a good mother plant but the pods are a lot smaller than the SG pods.

Glory, one i had marked isa or IP started opening last night and this morning she is beautiful!!! has the old fashioned kind of skirt and the deepest, shiny pink! one of the blooms is still yellow and pink swirled. a real beauty and a welcome addition!

OK you guys, I have a dumb question and have been wondering about it awhile but guess I will just go ahead and ask. Why do you use the term "cull" when you are talking about getting rid of brugs. Aren't you just talking about killing them off, or is there more to it. See told you it was a dumb question.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Dee, could go either way..... get rid of is the main thing!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Guess I thought to Cull meant to get rid of the bad and save the good. I knew what everyone meant though and have used the term loosely myself.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Brugie you may be right, but there really aren't any BAD brugs, just too many to keep them all. i am finding out some of them i want several of, going to save my self some cuttings. i wish you all could see how gorgeous this isabella bloom is. guess i'll try a pic. can't load pics though til my computer gets home.
totally off topic - year books came out, My DS was voted most atheltic, DSs girl friend and best friend were best looking girl and boy. kinda cute. i don't think ricky's a better athlete but he has a real desire to be the best, have no clue where those genes came from.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

You got that right Arlene....they are all beautiful, but sometimes we do have to cut back and I know I have to do it this year. Especially after planting all this stuff. Wish it was warm enough here in the winter to just leave them in the ground. That would be a quick way to cull them. :-)

Tell your son that I said "Congratulations". He should be really proud of himself for getting the honor.

Isabella has a pod!!! It's so different from Frosty Pink pods and the calyx didn't fall off.

Cala,
How about taking a picture of the Isabella pod so we'll know what it looks like.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Glory, here's a link. wish you could see mine that just started opening, it is just beautiful! am wondering, is in a pot and i almost killed it with fertilizer, but the color is great, more intense and shiny than on the below link

the seed pods are flattish, and according to brugman pretty distinctive.

Arlene,
It's a beauty....I had a seed pod that kinda looked like that but can't remember what Brug it was on....like you said sort of flat.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

That's my pod, lol. I had the camera with me, don't know why I didn't think to take one.
