Does EVERYONE have stuff in their filter? Mud and gunk and worms? Seems like I am always cleaning it out.

You and me both! I'm thinking it's because of our lousy weather. I've been told it's still too cold for the good bacteria to "wake up". I'm cleaning out my filters at the very least once a week. If I don't there's no water moving in the pond. Where's spring? "T" :)
worms shouldn't be able to get in your filter, I would think! I have gunk, no mud. On our filter, there is a small grate, then a solid piece of filter that nothing like that could get through. yours might be set up different, but there's no way any of that could get to the motor is there???

worms weave themselves into the filter. Its gross. Nothing gets into the motor. just filter. I have the Luguna1000 I think thats what its called. I clear it like every 10 days 2 weeks.
