versi Alba

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

DH and I went out tonight and measured this bloom on the versi Alba. Including the calyx it measures 18 in. and the flower itself measures 10 in. It should be completely open in a day or two.It is so much longer than any of the other Brug blooms in the GH. Arlene, this is one of yours.

Gosh Terry, how could you even find the bloom in all that growth in your greenhouse? This is going to be another pretty one. I'm just waiting on my Suess to open it's first bloom. Have to say it is only about 3-1/2 ft. tall too. Love how you have grown brugs this year. They are so nice........

Thanks Shirley. It is getting harder to find the blooms. We are trying to keep the ones with the buds in the front so we can see them but so many are y'ing and budding now it's impossible.
Arlene, you can see one of the leaves of this plant in the picture. They are long and kinda narrow. Does this sound like an Alba? It's a beautiful plant no matter what it is.

Snow, just kidding. i'm sure i remember eclipse saying they had the longest flowers, right? somedays i don't feel i have a good track record with labels.

I'll post a picture Arlene when it opens. It's so long I'm sure it will be beautiful when it opens fully. :)

That's it Arlene! Now I really can't wait for it to open. It's got lots of buds too. Now I just have to figure what to cross it with.

Oh Snow, that is a beauty. I remember now seeing it when Kyle posted the pic. I'm sure whatever you cross it with, it will produce some nice looking plants.

Snow . . . that is one heck of a bloom. It is going to be beautiful when it opens. You must show it to us when the blooms open. I can hardly wait!!

Snow..the first time I saw this tree in bloom it looked like white conehead hats...the tree was about 15 feet tall and had flowers big enough to wear on your head.I will find out this summer if the original plant is still in the collection out west.Mine routinely measure about 20 - 23 inches long with the calyx included.

Kyle, so good to see you posting again.. I can't wait for this one to open. I love anything that is different and this flower is certainly different from the rest of the Brugs.
