Boonies, SD(Zone 4b)

Good morning, folks!
Do you believe that we had a wind chill this morning???? I can't believe it's so cold!!! The wind chill is at 26 degrees. Our normal high is supposed to be in the 70's. We are sure having a cold spring this year. It was warmer in January!!
My sister and I went to get our linden trees yesterday that she had paid for on Monday, but the store couldn't find them. We had to take two smaller ones (with a 20% discount). The ones that she had bought Monday were really nice. The store figures someone took the sold signs off and bought them. I was not a happy camper, but it wasn't the greenhouse lady's fault. She can't be everywhere at once. You just shake your head at the nerve of some people.!!
It rained about an inch over the last couple of days. Our newly planted alfalfa got nipped when we had a frost, but DH is hoping it will start growing again. If not, I don't know if he will replant or just let the oats grow that he seeded with it.
Found a dead calf yesterday. DH said it's Hootchie's (the fence-jumper). He doesn't know what happened. It never had scours or anything. It's the first calf that we've lost this year, so our perfect record is toast!!!
I was hoping to plant my little linden tree today, but it's so windy and cold, I think I will concentrate on house work when I get home. I might have to go searching for some little Canadian geese. I saw a pair with six little ones a couple of days ago, so we have to catch them and pinion their wings so they don't fly. It has to be done within the first week of hatching because they might bleed too badly if they are any older. It's always fun to try to catch those little ones with a fish net with the big Canadians trying to fight you off!!
Take care everyone. Hope Lisa's move is going well and hope everyone is feeling OK.
