The Brugmansia Database

Check it out!

http://brugmansias.com/

Much of the data came from a big file that Monika sent me a few months ago. She asked me to put the data up somewhere where people can easily access it.

The Brugmansia Database currently hosts 82 different cultivars of brugs. Got pictures? :-)

Dave

Monika and Dave,

- Great work!!!!!!! :-)

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

Great database. Lot of work went into that, I can tell.

Well, of course I did the programming and vols did most of the beta testing (and a heap of other stuff) and almost all the cultivar names came from Monika. I'm hoping we can get a lot of great pictures in there and make this a really useful database.

I hope all the brug regulars who have posted such gorgeous pictures will add to the database.
And we have so many experts among us, I would think that they would add some information that would be way over my head for example....the length of the calix, how to obtain pollin by scraping the anthers out of the flower, storing pollen in the freezer or how about how to deal with those pesky spider mites, and other little bugs that seem to plague brugmansias, I always find it interesting reading.

I am looking forward to reading what all our masters to add

(I do appreciate everyone's efforts...)

Dave,
Who do we send our pictures and info for the Brug Data base to?

Glory,

You should have access to add anything you like. Just scroll to the bottom of the page for the plant you want to upload a picture, and you'll see a link that says " Upload a picture of this plant". click on that.

Make sure you're logged in to the Brugmansias Database when you do it, though, or else it won't let you. Login there just like you login here at DG.

Wow. This is very nice. Thanks Dave and Monika.

Dave - how do we get to the brug database ... other than the link you just posted? Will there be a link in the big database just for brugs? Also where's the daylilies ... or is that still in progress?

Should Datura be added in with the brugs? Maybe we alreadey discussed all this and I missed it... I'm glad to see these have their own sections. & the Hostas too. You and Terry have done an awesome job!

Hi Sue,

I still consider the Brug Database and other special sections as being somewhat under development. Soon, however, I will be making a new box called "Databases" that links to all the different ones, from all the plants database sites. So you'll be able to jump between databases easily.

Regarding Datura: I don't know. Should we include Datura with the Brugmansias Database?

Regarding Daylilies: It's still in progress, but Vols will have to answer that one for us. I know she is hard at work at establishing the parameters for the daylilies, and when she is ready with that we'll launch the Daylilies Database. I don't know where she is on it, though. I'll send her the link to this thread.

Dave, I don't know about keeping dats and brugs together, I'd say probably ?
when you put up links, can you also put one on the top of the brug page? pretty please?

tiG: Which brug page? Do you mean this forum? I just now made the word Brugmansias a hyperlink to the BDB.

That would be nic to have the database links on top of the forum pages they go with. Good idea tiG.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

oh, good idea dave!

Should the link be the way I did this one (check out this forum's front page to see what I'm talking about) or should I make it even more visible, say, by adding something to the end like "See also the Brugmansias Database"?

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

actually, maybe the second way??

How's that?

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Perfect Dave. So much easier to get into it now. Thanks.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

great, thank you oh great webmaster!!!!!

Sue, I just now went ahead the box to the right-hand column of the databases. Go to any plant database and check out the right hand column, under the "DG Network" box. I'm currently linking to our 3 databases, and I'll add the Daylilies to it when it's ready.

Fun fun!

Sue, regarding daylilies - please email me; if you and/or IndaShade have sent me your comments on the list of possible checkboxes I emailed to you, I haven't seen the feedback. As soon as we get the "attributes" lined out, I'll put the form together and you'll be able to see it in living color (as they say :)

I like it. Thanks Dave!

Thanks, Dave
