southeast, NE

Good morning all! Lisa - I hope your days are better! Kathy Jo - hope you are feeling better. I have been moving a little slow the fast few days as I decided to trip "over a crack in the sidewalk" and fell just a like a two year old does when they run too fast and trip over their feet. Now I know why little ones cry so much when they do that. It hurts to scrape yourself on concrete! Saturday night we attended the annual FFA banquet. They recognized Julia for her American Degree. They served pork loin and pot luck items - mmm - ate way too much!

We had a wonderful rain (over inch) through the night. It was one of those wonderful "light" thunderstorms that helps lull you to sleep. I may have figured a form of "rain dance" - wash your windows. That's what I did yesterday.

We have to leave our mail box open today or mail won't get delivered. A whacko has left pipe bombs in several mail boxes in Illinois & Iowa and 7 boxes in Nebr. So the post office said they will only deliver mail to rural areas and curbside boxes if the lid is open. The only clues they have are some pieced together "anti-government" notes. A woman in Iowa has lost some of her hearing due to this latest form of "terrorism".

We are finally done calving! Yippee. Della calved on Saturday afternoon and had a pretty easy time of it. She had a pretty little heifer. We ended up with 5 heifers and 15 bull calves this year. Now we're starting the breeding process. We're going to do one embryo implant this week.

Better go - lots to do today! Everyone have a great day and please take care.
