Great job Nancie :). maybe i should plant my potted brugs on the ground too. thanks for showing the difference. although i have plans of moving from where i presently live, i think i will take my chances. thanks for sharing.

i think it's the soil. lol, my black gold grows everything so good. i am just amazed at how fast everything is growing by fall they will be really huge. makes all that work hauling the dirt worth it. :)

Gorgeous bed! Make sure to post pictures after they start blooming - I'd love to see them. Question: what are the bricks for?

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Nice bed of Brugs. DH and I were out yesterday trying to make a plan on where to put almost 100 Brugs. Love to see how others plant theirs so I can get some ideas.

Great Looking bed... With lots more room for more...

Hempstead, TX(Zone 8b)

thanks ya'll, always room for one more lol. the bricks are to remind me where my soaker hose is. i will replace with a few homemade stepping stones when we make them.

Well turnips aren't the only thing you can grow. Great bed.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

here's the answer for farmgirl 21, good soil, mulch and drip system!

thanks for bringing that up Arlene :)!

MaVieRose,

My brugs are in pots sunken into the ground so I can just lift them in the fall. Its easier I think than planting and having to dig them up and disturb the root system.

Very nice bed Farmgirl and I can see space for more!!!

Joydie, I have been thinking about having mine in pots and keeping them in the ground until fall. How did yours do?
I think my soil is very acidic, perhaps too much for bruggies. Which brings me to a big gripe which I will post in the general discussion forum............

Hempstead, TX(Zone 8b)

i did have room in this bed then. now it looks very different. lol. i have some in very large pots. so far they are doing well getting tall with 1 shoot. but they are all white so far.

I wonder why this post popped up as though it had been brought back with a fresh post? The last one was in 2002.

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

LOL woodspirit... until you said that I didn't even look LOLOL...do you mean it showed up at the top as one of your 'watched' threads? Otherwise, if you were just looking at it and posted something then it would be a 'bump', this is strange if not. :-)

I'm glad it did, it's such a lovely idea and pretty bed too!

Julie

Edited to say, I wonder what program she used to get the neat photo page to display her bed, isn't that neat!

Nancie, I love your built up cross tie Bed O'Brugs. I especially enjoy seeing it during the start and moving forward. I know those dudettes are gonna be big and blooming all over the place real soon...

San Jose, CA(Zone 9a)

This post has giving me an idea for planting my brugs in the ground!! Just where to put the bed!?

I wonder how this bed looks now...3 years later?? Is farmgirl21 still here? Can you post a photo?

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

My word, I didn't even notice it was an old thread, duh.

I wonder if it lived in another Forum and perhaps Admin moved it here? Kind of like all the Coleus threads that were recently moved to the new Coleus Forum from various other forums.

lol! freakie!

Lake Toxaway, NC(Zone 7a)

Yes, it popped up as one of my "watched" threads but there was no new post to cause that. I didn't remember it at all. I'll bet farmgirl doesn't even watch it anymore and has not seen these recent posts. I'm going to e-mail her.

San Jose, CA(Zone 9a)

Her photo is Photo of the Day today, too!!!

Hempstead, TX(Zone 8b)

wow that is an old photo lol. this bed has been planted and replanted over the yrs. today it is full of poppies and irises. the brugs are starting to come back up, they do freeze back every yr.
thanks for the email woodspirit.

It's almost mind boggling how fast they start growing when it starts to warm up. My amaranthus did the same thing last year - grew 1 to 2 feet taller than me - I'm 5'6".
