My species is starting to flower but I don't have any solid pink pollen....did so want to cross this with a solid pink like E. Pink. I think I will collect the pollen and freeze it until I return from San Diego. Will take pictures but can't post them until my new disc reader arrives.
Species is flowering
Wish i could help, have a pink aurea hybrid with buds, will be 1-2 weeks before it opens i think. when do you head to CA?
Arlene,
I'm leaving on Thursday....the 9th will be back on the 18th.
doubt it will be open in time, only a couple of buds so far, will try to save some. i am thinking versicolors take longer to start blooming than others because of the way they wait and bloom at the same time?
i hear species are really good bloomers. will try to save some for you....OTOH, maybe you can pick up some good pollen out there......lol
Arlene,
ya never know...maybe I'll just jump someones fence and collect some pollen off a E. Pink. I wonder how good the food is at the jail in San Diego? LOL
Glory, you've got to get some pink pollen quick. I may be spinning my wheels but I think I remember Monika saying you should use the dbl plant as the mother and pollinate with a pink father.Makes better crosses and more chance to get a dbl.I have a little bit of Isabella pollen on a q-tip in the freezer. If you want it you are welcome to it.At least you would be able to pollinate a couple of flowers with pink pollen although I agree EP would be better.Let me know and I can send it right out.
I think ideally it should be a pink aurea, i must confess i have buds on mine, about 4-5 inches long. i'm gonna hit the species with rosa traum too, when it blooms.
Glory, with your southern charm i'll betcha get people collecting it for you...betcha some offspring!
Arlene, that sounds like a great cross. You should come out with something fantastic. I've got several plants with buds including DrD, versi Alba, Milk n Honey. JY, Isabella, IP, Sunray, versi Peach and a couple more. The one I want to bloom the most(EP) just doesn't want to bud yet. I may be begging everyone for pollen when they start blooming. LOL
You are loaded SH, i am gonna have to do better this winter! i've never seen Dr. D bloom, please post for us when it does. i'm getting lots of buds finally. ps you have mail.
Dr.D 's bud is almost 2". When it opens I'll be happy to post it. Glad to hear you're getting lots of buds. Everyone has such a variety of Brugs this year that I can't wait to see pictures of everyones blooms.
gloria, i dont have any pollen, but if youd like someone to send some to you or me, i can zip over and pollinate for you while youre gone.
lmk whatcha think.

Jen,
I don't think these flowers will be around that long...they are blooming as we speak. Thanks anyway....I do have a couple of plants here for you....give me a call.
Arlene,
could you save me some pollen from the Aurea Pink so I can have it for the next time it flowers? I don't think I'll ever get an Aurea Pink to grow for me.
Glory, Have a great visit with your daughter and her family. See ya when you get back. Roz
