Stupid Question...

Thomaston, GA(Zone 7a)

What is the difference between a Brugmansia and a Datura? Newbie here, could ya guess? Thanks!

hi kayakerX,
see this thread for a start on the differences. http://davesgarden.com/showthread/235880.html
Daturas are short lived perennials and the flowers face upwards. Can come in purple, yellow, blue and white.
Brugmansia can live up to 70 years, are a tender perennial and the flowers nod or face downwards. Doesn't come in purple, but comes in red, pink, orange, yellow, white and variations. Click on 'extras' on the right hand menu and check out the Brug and Datura contest from last year. You'll see many pictures of both and they are both in the plant database too.
hehehe, another one bites the dust!!

Kayaker..Datura flowers point up and out...Brugmansia flowers hang down...thats an easy way to know and the fact that brugmansias are tree and daturas are small short lived perennials. As in 3 feet tall.
