I have many of my seedlings outside in my little greenhouse. I have an electric heater but I don't actually keep it warm. I try to keep it above freezing. Checking the plants today I see some of the brug seedlings have been damaged from the cold. Just a few ... and I think they'll be Okay. I thought it was funny tho how some got damaged - and others weren't phased at all. I have about 6 or 8 that seemed to have been hit the worst.
Cold
Poppysue, i wondered too. i had seedlings coming up in the ground, was 26 here, below freezing for 10 plus hours, and a few seemed to disappear and the rest did fine. i'm sure it doesn't apply where it gets super cold, but down here a key during winter is to water once in a while if it doesn't rain, and i always make sure i water stuff before a big frost. the theory and i know it's true is that stressed plants will get killed by winter cold and you'll just think it's the cold. the last 2 years i have left house plants out and they come back, peace lilies, arrow root vine (?name), spider plants. tropical hibiscus and tapioca, no way! they are gonners with frost.
Oh no Sue so weird late winter for this April, hope soon it is over. So sorry some of your seeds damaged.
Hi PoppySue...are the seeds all from the same cross? What Brugs are the parents of your seeds? It's just that some species of brugmansia are more tender than others!
