Do any of you know which houseplants are better than others at cleaning the air? I have trouble with allergy-induced migraines and one thing I recently read is that plants help purify the air. I would like to put some plants in the master bedroom, specifically, and wondered what might help the most.
Anything you could contribute would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Carla
Purifying the air
The first article lists plants.

The second article has a toll-free number for more information. It says the typical house would need hundreds of plants to do the job, and it sounds like water-grown plants are best.

Now if that isn't a reason to get more houseplants, I don't know what is.
hope this url helps... http://www.humeseeds.com/purify.htm , http://www.emagazine.com/july-august_1998/0798gl_ecohome.html

That was interesting reading. It looks like I'll need another 10 plants in my house to help filter the air. :) I can handle that, but can the rest of my family? We'll see. I actually have several of the plants listed already in my house, so that's certainly helpful.
Thanks friends,
Carla
On thing that is not mentioned that is very important: Healthy, vigorously growing plants are much more effective at removing pollutants than unhealthy plants, regardless of species. Thus, it is much more important to select plants that match the available light so that they will work more effectively.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

since you mentioned having migrains.. I read that tincture of feverfew, will help for up to three days after using. I don't remember what amount to take but you might check into it. I would have tried anything, when I had one. Thank the lord, It never returned.
Thanks so much. I hope this all helps.
