Whiskers is pale yellow??? I thought it was white or pink?
I have one, but it is only about 4 inches tall! This is a real stunner.

Yep, and it's a beauty, smells good too.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

This is the one I can't wait to see bloom. How is the fragrance on this one Cala? If it smells as good as it is pretty, I'm gonna love it. Thank you so much.

Whiskers is really pretty. Your brugs are looking great.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Wow!That's gorgeous. I'm sure glad DH helped me pot mine up in a big pot last week. Now I can't wait till it blooms. Yours is beautiful.

Wow!!! What a flower shape ... here I am going and plan to make a such shape (earlier post), but I see it is already there *lol* I can`t simply not get enough of looking at this image :)

Tonny,
I would have to agree with you on that. She is a very beautiful hybrid. I could of course send you some pollen from Whiskers if you'd like to work with it or perhaps some Whiskers x Butterfly seeds?
Cala,
I must confess that sounds like a wonderful cross you have in the making. I can't wait to see this newest cross of yours in bloom.

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

OOO so beautiful, would love to get me one someday.

Rapid City, SD(Zone 5b)

I really like this flower form Cala - beautiful shot :)

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Thats a real beauty. Will it have more color in the summer?

Cala,
That is a super picture.....mine is a little darker but it is the original plant. Whiskers is an Aurea Gold x Charles Grimaldi Hybrid

Tonny,
I have plans on sending you some cuttings of the following later this summer:
Whiskers
Jessie Noel
Becca Lynn
Right now I don't have any available.

Temuco, Chile(Zone 9b)

WOW ! Cala it is ssssooooooooo nice.
The colour so sweet and soft...lovely picture.

OK, whoever wants cuttings better tell me now!! I only take the little side branches off because those are the ones I have best luck with.

That is so so pretty, wonderful color.

Thanks, Glory. I look very much forward to grow these. Whiskers for its shape (and ... don`t it get a little more yellow with a tendency towards golden during summer?).
Jessie Noel and Becca Lynn are equally beautiful. I have seen pictures posted of these two ... they are sisters, right? I have to consider structuring my beds now, because I like to (even if stereotype, it is highly practical, when evaluating differences) place all aurea-types in one bed and the suaveolens in another etc ...

Saint Petersburg, FL(Zone 9b)

My whiskers is about 4.5 feet and has buds now I am realy getting excited for it to bloom hope its half as pretty and this one

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Glory, I love the color it is now, do you think mine will darken up?
I wasn't sure how to give you credit for growing this one. Do I say "originator"? Jesse Noel and Becca Lynn are yours too aren't they?

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

Cala...i'd like to have one, if i may... Please? thx!

Cala,
I grew Whiskers from a seed that Vicki sent me... I really don't know what to call what I did with it. LOL The other two I hybridized from Whiskers and what I thought was a Charles Grimaldi...since that one has serrated leaves what is it really?

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

i love being confused with other people (even if i am the most confused). Cala, it seems like sometimes colors change some depending on weather, just a guess it might darken up. glory, i think the consensus is serrated leaves equal dr suess or maybe solid gold?

Cala, how much difference do you see in JO and DrS?

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

My JO/CG? smells wonderful. I didn't notice a fragrance on the Dr. Seuss. The Dr. Seuss that Earl had was just "different". Some of the others were there, maybe they can explain better. It was more the shape of the leaves and blooms. I should have taken my camera in, but didn't want to walk back across the road it was just so hot that day.

Co.Wicklow, Ireland(Zone 8b)

I'd love some Calla! This winter...all my other plants will have to bare the cold cause i'm kicking them out of the greenhouse to make room for my small but slowly growing brug collection! :o)))

Thanks,

Bruno

Tonny,
I have a Whiskers blooming in the greenhouse and it is darker then Cala's.

Brugman,
Do you think I could have a few of your Whiskers x Butterfly seeds? LMK and I'll send a SASE

FSH, TX

Glory,
Send me your address.

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Luminosa is a CG x aurea Gold - hybrid. It has also very long corolla tips. I placed a picture of it in an earlier post.

FSH, TX

Monika,
What do you think about crossing Luminosa x Whiskers or Whiskers x Luminosa?

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

For a good chance to get something different as aureas, aurea x suav.etc, you have to germinate a whole bunch of seeds. The chance for a versicolor type hybrid is small.
I would not do it.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

I don't know anyone who has a luminosa in the US. Glory told me Whiskers hasn't had any white kids, i am looking forward to using Whiskers on a bunch of different plants. i wish i had the money to plant 3 acres of brugs in rows. DH doesn't like farming.

I have some seedlings of Whiskers x ? growing now maybe they will produce a white. If anyone gets a white from the Whiskers seeds I sent out please let us know.

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Gloria . . . can't wait for mine to bloom and see what depth of color it will have. I am thinking with warmer temps and higher humidity the darker the color. I don't have any buds yet but I know that I will be having a lot of buds soon. Whiskers is definitely one beautiful flower.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I have a pod!! It's not fallen off yet!!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Way to go Cala. Whiskers X EP pod might have some great surprises for you. I keep thinking about Eric's brug that MzM named Janet Reno. You might have something even more special that that one. I just think Whiskers is a really nice brug.

Cala,
That mix should be very interesting.
