Where'd the variegation go?

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

I planted a variegated brug last year that i bought from kmart.
this winter it died back but its coming back full force, problem is there is no markings on, just plain green leaves.
is this normal and will it get it markings later?
thanks
jen

I didn't want to tell you but Roz and I took it one night while you were asleep and replaced it with frosty pink. LOL I know I'll quit being a smart *&%.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Glory, that was a good one. Jen, you better be thinking of a way to get even now. I wonder if when the brug gets bigger, the variegation might show up. I don't know, just guessing and having trouble keeping a straight face after what Glory wrote. Sorry.

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

lol, gloria. i knew you wanted one, but geez the lows we'll stoop to, eh?
half my yard is dedicated to fp/ip and cj/jo/ds, whats one more (sigh), lol

Msjen, I have a piece of that one rooting if you want it. You sent it to me last year as a cutting and it's got buds now, but I took a few of the little cuttings that I like to start and they are rooted now, but still tiny.
Did that make sense at all? BTW, don't you love the way I sent your stuff from the swap? I just realized I had never sent it. If I get any worse, just plant me in the garden.

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

cala, its growing great, just doesnt have any white in the leaf. if youd like to tuck one in that would be great.
i have a few trades i need to get out. just havent had time nor the energy to do it.
seems im consumed with the stepkids and their father and trying to figure it all out. trying to make the best decisions for everyone involved, when i know that, for once, i should put me first.
anyway,
jen
p.s. the ginger is coming up nicely, so when youre ready for it let me know. i have a bare trellis ready for its new companion, lol (hint hint).

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Jen, that would be the corkscrew vine, right? It's ready and I'll get it out. I was to send you butterfly ginger too?

Florence, AL(Zone 7a)

Since you mention it---the Corkscrew Vine is Phaseolus caracalla, right? and The Snail Vine is the Vigna caracalla?
I have the Vigna, and I want to find somebody with the Phaseolus who'll trade me either a rooted cutting or some seeds. My Vigna is too small to cut right now, but I MIGHT could part with a seedling.

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

The variegation is probably not coming back, if the frost killed the plant parts, that were infected. Variegations can be caused by mutation or by microorganism. They have a special name.

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

well darn!! i sent cuttings all over the u.s. but didnt think to keep one for myself.
darn again
jen

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Judith, Vigna is the corkscrew vine.

Jen,
Give me a call.

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

Jen, sorry about the tragedy with your cariegated brug. Nice to see you, have missed seeing your posts.

Florence, AL(Zone 7a)

Oops! Then I've lied to someone! Yet another reason to not use common names!

Jen,
What time do you go to work? I'll call Roz and we'll come over and get that piece of Brug while you are gone. LOL
