I got these cuttings from someone in late fall. They were just a stick and I thought "What the heck is this?" Now they have leaves and I hope they grow fast. Freaked me out the other day though when they stressed from the heat and lost a few leaves. Tell me they'll be alright :)
I don't know anything about brugs and would love to have any input and advice you can give me
My first brug
I had 2 plants that just went limp overnight. The stems became soft, the leaves drooped. I gave them plenty of water for about a week and still they look like they are going to bite the dust. Otherwise the other plants look just fine. I hope yours make it okay.
Joydie
Flowox, they should be fine. Sometimes when they wilt really bad, they lose a few leaves. We were so busy at the garden center today(I was there all by myself while DH went to get geraniums and NG impatiens) and my Jungle House got so wilted. I had just pollinated Whiskers with EP pollen and I'm so afraid the pods will fall off because I let them wilt.
Thanks for the encouraging words of hope Cala :)
I have your notepads done, I just have not had a chance to mail them yet.......sorry about that. I have not forgotten you though :)
I think Brugs know when it is spring and time for them to grow. Mine all of a sudden are starting to grow very quickly. Give that baby some fertilizer and watch it take off.
Susan, your brug looks just fine and will get big and strong with some time. Just wait until it goes through a few 40-50 mph wind storms and has no leaves left. I now know that they bounce back and pretty fast. I don't let much worry me anymore. Even when one breaks off, I know it will soon put out a new shoot. Like Snow said, do the fertilizer thing and stand back and watch it grow. You can overwater when they are small, but when they get big, I don't think it is possible. Try to let it grow a little on the dry side right now. Just have fun with it. There will be lots of them available later on. You will get all the practice you need to grow them when our cuttings are available. Later.........S
ok, what is the best way to fertilize?
I'd wait until the soil is somewhat dried out and then mix a good water soluable fertilizer at the recommended rate and just water. Every two weeks, I mix my fertilizer double strength, but not until the brugs get some size to them.
like miracle grow or something else?
Peters or miracle grow both work well.Once they get bigger use a bloom booster.I also use manure tea sometimes.....
ok, will do. thanks so much everyone :)
