southeast, NE

Good morning everyone. Yeaaa! Spring is back. A front moved through last night and it has cooled down to 60's today. I had hoped front would bring some rain with it. The winds earlier this week were terrible. Early yesterday the winds caused "black outs" from dirt that attributed to a terrible accident on the highway near Nebraska City.

We were quite excited as dd's bull sold yesterday. Originally, dh didn't think this calf was that great and almost turned him into a steer. He is a registered Maine Anjou and we have a friend who raises and sells bulls so he kept him and sold him for us.

Dh and our helper wormed the lambs last night. We still have two cows and a heifer that need to calf - any bets when they will calf? Next week - of course! Dh is going to be gone all week.

I think the dratted chickens scratched out my bleeding hearts as several didn't come up this spring. Chicken stew?? A few of our hens hatched out a few chicks last week. One of the poor cats found out the hard way. I opened the barn door and a cat walked in ahead of me and was fiercely attacked by the protective hen. Poor kitty! She jumped out and gave me a "What did I do wrong?" look.

Better go - have to run some errands again this a.m. The vet is supposed to come this afternoon and give our heifers their bangs shots. He didn't set an exact time - just said he would catch us on his way home from appointments this afternoon.

You all have a good day!
