2002 contest?

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

Do we want to have another contest this year? Dave is waiting for us to make up our minds.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I thought it was fun last year and really enjoyed seeing the pictures that others had taken of their brugs and daturas. I'd like to see it happen again. Especially since we have so many people who are new to growing them and with all the hybridizing going on. Should get some great pictures.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

I think so too.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Sounds like a great idea. We should have lots of new pictures this year.

Monroe, WI(Zone 4b)

I vote yes also.

I certainly think a few more of us will have pictures to post than we did last year. Some of the ones who posted pictures last year undoubtedly have more Brugmansia as well. I would love to see some more pictures.

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

I also vote for yes

It's settled, then. I'll setup the contest area so people can start adding pictures at their leisure. Sometime between now and, say, September or October, we should decide on a panel of judges and a firm end-date for the contest.

I'm planning to compete this year, so count me out as a judge. :)

Dave

It's up and ready for pictures!

sounds like great fun! I can hardly wait to see pictures of brugs that people are growing. My plants are finally outdoors hardening off, but the temperatures are supposed to really drop again this weekend. The plants are so big now I have no room for them indoors anymore. I'm horrified at how big the leaves get and so quickly. The really big pots make an enormous difference. I want to thank everyone on the forum who helped me in so many ways to start my collection. The generosity, helpful suggestions, propagation technigues etc. have been wonderful. Hoping everyone has the BIGGEST, MOST FRAGRANT brugmansia this summer.

I am looking forward to see everyones Brugs in pictures :)

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Well, I'd like to know what kind of brug that is that Dave used as a test picture. Really a pretty one.

Brugie: That's a Frosty Pink, given to me in January, 2001 by SoCal. It performed beautifully in a 5 gallon container, and this year it's already a foot tall in the same container.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

You sure caught the color at the right time on the photo. Very pretty and delicate.

Thank you. :)

Dave, has Jean Pasco bloomed yet?

Not yet - he's in the ground though and the buds are getting pretty long. I think it'll still be at least a week - maybe more.

Dave, Is this the contest where we can win a new LEXUS??? LOL :-)

Eclipse, wouldn't that be nice. There may be prizes, however. Last year we gave out coffee mugs and DG T-shirts as prizes. We'll probably do something fun like that this year.

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

Dave...have a mug made up with the winning pic on it...can be done at most photo shops. **Hint Hint** :-)

FSH, TX

That sounds like a great idea Kyle! Of course it would be nice to have a print or something of the top 3 pics as well.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

You also had plaques last year Dave. I love my coffee mug, but quit drinking coffee, so I use it by the phone to hold pens and pencils right now. Works great. My plaque isn't up yet, but it will be soon.

S.
