Looking for Peter Peppers

Stormstown, PA(Zone 6a)

If anyone has these to share, please let me know what you'd like for them. I'd love to try these this year!

Thanks so much!

Another Peter Pepper lover...eh? ROFLMBO!!! I'm growing them this year in my garden strictly for their...ahem...culinary value of course. If you believe that, I've got some waterfront property in the desert I'd like to sell you! ROFL!!!

But seriously, you can buy the pepper seeds at Totally Tomatoes. Here's the Peter Pepper number: #03071

I am wiping the tears from my eyes, I'm laughing so hard. If the picture wasn't enough, here's an excerpt from the description:

"....Demand continues to far exceed supply of this ornery old heirloom, grown as much to shock the prudish as for its culinary value! Pods are 4” to 6” long, blunt-ended, and mature to a deep red...."

For giggles and grins, go to the website, and find them - the picture says it all.

I think that'll do me for this morning...I have got to get some housework done, or I'll sit here and giggle all day!

Hmmmmmm. Maybe they would be a big seller at the farmers market??? ;) I can see the newspaper headlines now, "Woman Arrested At Farmers Market For Selling Pornographic Vegetable." ROFLMBO!!!! I'm nervy but _not_ nervy enough to try and sell those peppers!

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

That was gonna be my next question, since you're doing the market grower thing this year.....you know, they'd probably be a real attention-getter. I can just see folks picking one up, testing it for firmness, and when they realized what it looked like, dropping those peppers like hot potatoes....

On second thought, maybe you'd be better off not attempting to sell them at farmer's market just yet.....(can you hear me giggling yet????)

Richmond Hill, GA(Zone 8b)

Yes, I can hear you all the way down here! Can you hear me? LOL!!!

My 15 year old son and I got in a discussion about these peppers today - don't ask how....sometimes our conversations take strange turns. Anyway, I had to show him the picture to prove that indeed these are real peppers. Then he wanted to know who bio-engineered them, and was even more amazed when he read the description! At least he hasn't asked me to buy any seeds yet, LOL!!!!!

That'll come, go-vols. And then he'll want to take them to school for some private show & tell.

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

I dunno....he turned as red as the peppers when he saw 'em. Boy, I sure hope he doesn't want to do that.....yikes! I'll be getting a call from the principal!

Hey, Brook by the way, how big IS Richmond? I was thinking it was about 20,000 - has it "growed up" since I last had any inkling of it? (You mentioned in another thread that it was bigger than Murfreesboro, and this place has exploded about 300% in the last decade...I think the new census is putting us right at 65K now....sorry - sometimes my curiosity has a delayed reaction.)

Oh, he laughed alright. But I think he was embarassed to be viewing such a graphic rendition of the male appendage with his (gasp!) MOM!!!!

I'm waiting for the oh-so-casual request to grow some. If he does, I probably will - it'd be a sure-fire way to get him out in the garden! And he might just pull a few weeds while he's there!!!

Oh no! I forgot all about show-and-tell!!! I sure hope the twins don't think of it. I would imagine I'll have lots of peppers still growing by the time school starts back again in August. Hmmmmmmm. Maybe I should cover my peppers with that TufBell material so no one will see them. After all, I won't want my peppers to be "exposed" for the whole world to see!!! LOL

Richmond, KY(Zone 6b)

Ladies, in case you haven't noticed, at that age boys are nothing but hormones with legs. Some cover it with bravado, and some get withdrawn. But they'd _all_ react to seeing something like these peppers.

go-vols: Yeah, Richmond has growed. Just like everywhere else in the past decade. There are more than 20,000 associated with the College alone. The City has annexed west of I-75, for instance, and has been trying to do the same south of the By-pass. Used to be that Madison Cty. was isolationist, in the sense that it didn't see much over its own borders. But now it is fast becomeing _the_ bedroom area for Lexington.

Even the road leading to my place has been affected. There are two gated communities going in, even as we speak. And I'm way out in farm country.

Do not take all this as a brag. It's a complaint. Like Daniel Boone, I might have to move, again, looking for elbow room.

Gee - I hope so, Patty! We did a Kitty Litte Cake and gave it to my brother - thought he was gonna die when I put the pan on the table - litter scoop and all. We successfully got thru that one with a straight face. However, these are a bit more graphic. LOL Theresa

Ohhh - you'd love this one - the cake looks real - like real litter - and then there's tootsie roll "doos" that you melt and oh- it's the best one I've pulled yet on him. ROTFL! Here's the link for the recipe:

I never laughed so hard thru a recipe in my life! It looks real and is really gross but it tastes good. :D

Have fun!

Oh tweezle!!! I've got to make that cake!!! ROFLMBO

Gee, I don't know about selling them at the farmers market, Patty and tweezle. Maybe I could wear a blond wig and go incognito??? ROFL!!! I'd be just fine as long as only women were buying those peppers but if I had to ring up a peter pepper sale for a guy, I think I'd just croak!!!
