I will be pruning my tibouchina plants shortly and will have plenty of unrooted tibouchina urvilleana cuttings available to trade. I would be open to trade for anything I don't have; seeds, cuttings or plants. Let me know what you have available.
Thanks!
tibouchina urvilleana to trade
That's not in the plant database. Would you like to add it? I'm not sure what it is. :)
I might get around to adding it. I hope this link might explain what it is.

It really is quite special and makes a great late season annual.
May I ask how you root the cuttings? I bought one this year and was given another one, a different kind I think. Thought I should have one on each side of the garage windows. Will need to hold over by cuttings for next year.

I'm new and joined because I don't know quite what to do with the t. urvilleana (Princess Flower) I purchased a couple of months ago. It's beautful and I knew that my zone (6b) would be too cold so I planned to bring it inside and repot. However, I now find out it will grow up to 12 - 15 feet and 5 to 6 ft wide. It is now 4 ft tall and 3 ft wide and I lugged it inside to day to repot and realized I have a problem! I see now that some others in cool climates such as New Hampshire are pruning etc. So - any suggestions?
I live in the New York metro area but not near high rises - mostly detached homes. climate is moderate in the winter but has been cold for us past few years (down to 0). It's usually between 20 to 30 degrees F.
Daylily,
It sounds like you should prune it heavily. You might want to post your question in the Perennials forum!

If you decide to prune, I'll reimburse you for any & all costs, if you send me your clippings.
:~)
If any one still has cuttings of this, let me know.
