I finally talked to my publisher today about the english translation. He was quite shocked about the many Mails but also delighted about the interest shown.
I have no good news for you. I learned, that my publishing house can translate the book into english but are unable to sell it into another country. The book trade goes only through licence. You or we have to find a interested publisher in the US. They will obtain the licence from my publisher and the book can be translated and printed. These are international agreements.
Now its up to all of you interested. I cannot write to any US publishing house, offering my book. They must know, if there is any demand.The other point, I dont know anyone, publishing garden books. blv is a very well known publisher for garden and nature books, but only in Germany and german speaking parts of Europe.
To your knowledge, my book is going in May into its third edition.

If that doesn't work - why can't your publisher translate into english and we could order through amazon.de? Would the cost be prohibitive?
I think would be a good post to make on the brugmansia forum at gardenweb and to the American Brugmansia....Association...not sure of the exact name of that group...the more places we post I'm sure the interest will be there for an English translation...I'm not trying to negate Preissel's book by any means, but there could have been so much more in that book...its for beginners and more of us are chomping at the bit so to speack for more.

The publisher of the Priessel book might be interested.They already know the demand.
Most publishers won't do two books on the same subject at the same time.They figure its overkill.we will see what we can do.

amazon de. has books with international titles, translated in german and printed in licence by german publishers.
amazon.com sells international books in almost all languages, printed by the original publisher.
In times before amazon.com, you were only able to buy; lets say english books, in an international bookstore.
If John Vanderplank would not have send me a copy of his Passiflora book at that time, there was no chance to buy it in Germany.
And here I was thinking it was a matter of weeks till the next english publication. I don't quite understand why you can't buy a book from another country though...Perhaps if the book company sold the books to you in english and we sent you the money in advance...you could simply be our friend who was acquiring books for us. We would simply be your friend trying to reimburse you for your expenses? Okay, I know I'm bad, but I'd love an english version of your book.
Brugman, all these companies have their own territories. All what we have do to is to find a US or UK publisher to buy the licence of my book from blv, translate, print and sell it - it will keep everything in law and order.
Brug fanciers in the Netherlands already asked for an english translation. They do speak better english as german.
I find the Priessel book to vague and it would be nice to have another one.

So Eclipse..........will find out all he can and then we all can write and show demand. Maybe Dave's Garden itself can and would express interest for I would think that would carry lots of weight in the publishing world as it has 10 or is it 20,000 members.
we have been trying to get publishers in the USA interested..but no luck yet.We tried Timber press and others.
timber press hasnt answered yet. I have send another copy of the book, this time by reg. mail.

I'm crossing my fingers that someone will do this here in the states. I can't wait to get your book. If all else fails, I may have to get the one with German text. I don't know how much longer I can wait on this book. I've heard so many good things about it.
I guess it's time to learn to read German.
LOL, if only my grandmother was alive. She could read and write it. My mother can just speak it! And I do neither! I guess we all could google it.
