well, I did it!!!

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

we put in the brug alley today!!! I used Amber Rose, Eric's fragrant white, and Ecuador Pink and on one side and Butterfly, Kyle's Knight Pink, and Dr D on the other. I have loads of white verbena already blooming and am putting in other low to mid growing annuals tomorrow. A few daylilies already live there and put the agapanthus in today too. I'm thinking a vine at each wide end, maybe passifloras. The color scheme is pink, purple, blue and white. I know that Dr D and Amber Rose can be peachy, but they had to be in there.
Digging those holes was a back breaker, my DH is so glad we're only doing 6 like this:)
taking pictures tomorrow of the beginning, will show it off when it's full :)
had to laugh, my DH said I hurt his feelings when he dug those holes for the 5 gallon buckets and put in plants that are all less than 3' high:) I said just wait!!!

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Cool tig!! It sounds beautiful! Can't wait for the pics =]

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

tiG, that's great news. I'll bet it will be just beautiful. I'm sure your DH will feel much better in a couple of months when those plants have grown big and it won't be long now that they are in the ground. Congratulations!!!

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

tiG will you ask your hubby to come up here and help me with mine?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Will you make it longer next year? I'm sure it will really look nice and can't wait to see pictures of them all in bloom.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

TiG, I'm gonna have to come back and visit just to see it!! I dug holes for my brugs today and I'm tired!! (can I borrow your DH for a few hours?) Take photos, we wanna see.

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

I am sure that in a couple months or so you will have a spectacular site to feast your eyes upon. Can't wait to see pictures.

Tig, that combination of brugs sounds gorgeous. You're lucky to be planting them outside now. I just planted the sangs outside, had a huge rain and wind storm, was out there typing them to more poles. Yours will be blooming in no time with your hot weather. Can't wait to see the pictures.

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

Lucky you tiG - the hard part is done. Did you drill the holes in the pots?

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

tiG . . It sounds like it going to be a beautiful site for the eyes to behold and you and DH will be rewarded for all your hard work. I think we all want to see pictures.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

yes, we did the holes in the pots. We found that the pot will have to be filled once in the hole (I just didn't think of that!) Don't really know what to fill in holes with when I pull the plants, but the best we can figure until Monika tells me is that we'll pull the plant, and leave the pot with a lid on it til spring. I can tell you, DH won't ever dig these holes again, and everywhere else they will go straight into the ground. Of the 5 I left out, 4 came back and one was in a pot. So these will be all I'll overwinter except for cuttings and a Butterfly in a large pot. Will make life easier next winter and spring:)
I'm just hoping that my underplantings will be right so I can get the right look this year. Of course my plants won't be as tall as Monika's this year, but with time.....

Jonesboro, GA(Zone 7b)

I'm so happy for you Tig - I still can't decide just which ones to plant - some of them may not bloom this year anyway. How far apart are they? I put the E. Pk in a large container by the pool. Can't wait to see one of them bloom.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

they're 3-4 ft apart. The tops might grow into each other, but that will just add to the look I think. I have old pictures from before we even started the mirror bed (we mirrored the original) and the difference will be dramatic!!

tiG....gonna be pretty.

FSH, TX

Tig, sounds stunning indeed. What kind of pots did you use and where did you get them? I was thinking of trying to do something similar up North in NC. Just a few mind you.

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

tiG, I am awaiting to see the pictures. Keep us informed ( with pictures) when they start growing and blooming, of course. GA, this is Georgia, am I right? Dont you have to worry about a frosty night? Mme Blin puts her Brugs out on the 20.April, every year, and we up here sometimes still have to use the snow shovel.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

go to your local bakery and get them to save you the five gallon icing buckets, or you can get paint buckets at Walmart for a couple of bucks. It was really easy to do Eric, Monika had given us so much info to go on, and Monika, I thank you deeply. Yes, I live in GA, and we won't have any more frost (looking for big piece of wood to knock on!!! ) We are past the official frost date, hope the weather has paid attention to dates:)
