HELP, Someone sent me this Beautiful gardenia about 2 1/2 feet tall, with leaves, roots and all. But I am afriad I will kill it when I plant it. What is the best way to handle plants like this when you get them. I know what kind of soil to use but... Should I just take it out of the bags and put it in the soil or sould I prepare it somehow? and if so How do I do it?
thanks tamlamb
Help August Beauty Gardenia
I bought one that was potted in a small pot for the size of the plant. I just re-potted it like I do any other plant and misted it once in a while, kept it on the moist side and it is doing okay. Good luck. Remember that they don't like much, if any, fertilizer. Use acid based fertilizer monthly except when blooming. Lots of bright light and temps of 60-80 degrees. Keep out of drafts, hot or cold. If your plant gets too dry, it will lose foliage and buds. I did let that happen before I got it re-potted. Now, I'm waiting for all the new buds to form. Good luck.
I second that!
